She continued her post graduate studies in Collagraphe in the Pratt Institute, New York and in Holography at the New York Museum of Holography. Marivi has exhibited her work in the U.S.A., Japan and Europe. In 1995 she established, with partner Sandro Tothill, Lzf Lamps (then called Luzifer Lamps), a small business whose primary aim was to develop and create ambient lighting, with her main focus on the investigation and use of new materials with light. Lzf LampsLzf Lamps, or Luzifer as they were originally called, is a small company making very special lights for very special people. Founded by Marivi Calvo and Sandro Tothill towards the end of 1994, this company has been producing handmade lights exclusively out of wood veneer right from the beginning. We have it over our dining area table. As an extra bonus, it is fairly easy to adjust the height even after it is installed. For dining we keep it low over the table and for a different look put it out of the way close to the ceiling. We got it in yellow and found it a bit more orange than we expected, but it gives a nice pop of color, and there are plenty of more subtle colors available.
