After reading some other reviews, I had inquired at Y Lighting as to whether this light was wood or not and was told it was. It is NOT wood, it is plastic with a wood grain imaged onto the plastic. I almost sent it back but reasoned that the plastic will be easier to clean and would probably stay cleaner. It looks great and creates a warm ambiance, the shade is birch so it casts a yellow/orange glow. Using it over a kitchen table. Happy I bought it although it did seem a bit pricey for the actual construction. Price for design, I guess.

We couldn't ask for a better light in our MCM entry way. We bought this with the hope of designing a Modern Addition to our ranch home, but instead we moved to a MCM home and it perfectly compliments the wood beams in our new [old] home with a beautiful glow. Honestly, I can't imagine a space it wouldn't make a great addition too...it's awesome during the day as well, but I hope people come visit at night so I can turn it on!! Cheers!

This light looks really nice in our daughter's bedroom. It gives off more light than I anticipated which was a nice surprise. She likes the modern look -- very different from other lights we found. Light was easy to hang and adjust height.

Although I was a little surprised that the material was some form of plastic, it does not detract from the beauty of it both lit and unlit.

We looked at this light for a long time and had seen it in many pictures, but never live.

We decided to buy it and were so excited, but when we opened it up so disappointed. I know you that in things as this you pay for style and design over substance, and I don't mind paying for things that are stylish, but this is the worst made poorest quality item I can imagine. Words fail me to describe the mediocrity with which this thing is made. I sent it back.

Lighting quality is great - no glare, even distribution on our round breakfast table.

Suspension height can be easily adjusted.

Wiring instructions could be better, i.e. MFG should label all wires as the ground wire can easily be confused with (-).
