Oscar Devesa, along with his brother Sergi, came together in 1987 to create the industrial design firm D & D Design. Their firm is dedicated to product design, lighting, home furnishing and installation, as well as exhibition spaces. They have designed a variety of products such as lights, furniture and accessories, office equipment, public facilities, bathroom and kitchen fittings and packing materials. They have received a wide variety of design awards and have collaborated with many design companies, such as Metalarte, Blaut, Vibia, and more. They currently live and work in Barcelona, Spain.
Metalarte is a company that has defined its personality through the co-existence of the new and the traditional. Applying Yin and Yang to production has resulted in the possibility of maintaining a catalogue that balances the future and the past, a tradition that began in a workshop at Madrazo Street in Barcelona.
Metalarte, S.A., Barcelona, Spain is a manufacturer of traditional and avant-garde lighting whose origins date back to 1932. The world-renowned global company began within the warmth of a simple metalworking shop where its founder, Antonio Riera felt a unique passion for bright, appropriate lighting — something most unusual in a country that used 125 volts until the beginning of the 1960s.
Today Metalarte combines a pride about its pioneer past and its new state-of-the-art factory and manufacturing abilities. They have chosen to work with such established and esteemed professional designers as Eric Franch, the Devessa Brothers, Josep Aregall, Alberto Lievore, Manuel Molina, Richard Ferrer and Manuel Molina. To further the concept that the future is today, in 2003 Metalarte created its advanced laboratory, Metalab, that has commissioned such new designers as Jamie Hayón, Raymond Úbedy and Otto Candalda, Hector Seranno, Jordi Llopis, Emil Padros and Ana Mir.
