Awesome fan! Low-profile and small "wing span" make this great for low ceilings and small rooms.

The fan is awesome! Having the remote made it really easy to install -- just a few wires at the ceiling and it's done!

A dramatic ceiling fan, modern styling, sleek design, quiet operation.

I'm using the Concept flush ceiling fan in my master bedroom. The light is bright enough to provide for reading and to allow me to dress in the morning. The fan ventilates the room. Quiet enough to let me fall asleep to a cool breeze it's almost like sleeping on an island without the bugs!

    Fantastic Ceiling Light & Fan!

Finding a ceiling fan for a small room with a standard 8' ceiling is not easy. I was looking for a fan that was quiet, low profile with clean lines, with a remote only (no wall switch) for a price that didn't break the bank! After looking at various local stores I resorted to shopping on-line. I was thrilled to find this fan at YLighting! It arrived quickly and my contractor was very impressed with the ease of installation and I was thrilled with the look and ease of use. It also has an optional light that's dimmable!

    Easiest fan to install EVER!

When I opened the box I could tell this fan was well engineered. When you buy a cheap fan there are like a millions pieces, a ton of instructions and a whole lot of swearing waiting for you. Not this fan! I understand the comments about it not sitting perfectly flush against the ceiling. How close the fan sits to the ceiling is dependant upon how much the ceiling fan box is recessed from the drywall or plaster. The fan blades are also solid injected molded plastic. The color runs through the whole piece. They are also curved like helicopter blades. On high the fan will practically lift the roof off the house.

    OK, but underwhelmed.

The fan was defective (but Ylighting agreed to replace without question). Also, the fan does not generate as much light as I would have anticipated and the light cover gets very hot. I think fan is nice looking, but it is really insufficient to light a room.

    Needs grommet

Fan is nice design, but once installed does not sit flush with ceiling. Installing electrician states this is his second install of this fixture that does not snug up properly to ceiling. Recommend adding a clear rubber grommet or reworking the canopy design to correct.

    Perfect contemporary fan

This fan is worth the price. It's 100% silent, perfect construction, and incredibly sleek. Your home doesn't have to be ultra modern for this to fit your decor either. If you're looking for something sleek to blend into your room but still provide the functionality of a ceiling fan this is it. Plus, if you're sick of the silly chain hanging from your old fan, this is perfect with the remote control operation and dimmer. Very easy to install as well!

Great fan but not so great light

We bought the fan in white. It's a great looking fan, quiet easy to install, I recommend it! But, alas, don't count on it as your only source of light in the room. But it provides enough light for me to find the other light to turn on! All in all though, I'd recommend it. Especially for those rooms with a lot of natural light already.

Great Fan. Easy Install. Smooth Performance.

I currently have 2 (1 Brushed Nickel, 1 Oiled Bronze). I have had these for about 3+ years and they still work great. I will be getting a new (white) one for yet another room. With 8 foot ceilings there are not as many choices out there as you would hope. This hugger fan gives great performance while still giving plenty of over-head room. The finishes of hte 2 fans I have already are very nice. The Minka-Aire multi-function switch makes the fan all the easier to use.

I was originally looking for a Casa Blanca fan but I could not find one that would work for the room that I needed it for. I had never heard of Minka-Aire previously but now that I have, when ever I need to look for a fan (or lighting), I always put Minkas near (or at) the top of my list.

    Money well spent?...absolutley!!!

We are senior citizens so we had our fan professionlly installed...the comment from the installer said it was the easiest fan he ever enstalled and was very impressed. We are very happy with the fan. We got the oiled bronze/taupe blades and are pleased with the choice, the design and size and color is a perfect fit for our den. It's so quiet it, being able to adjust the brightness of the lighting is a huge plus . We have every entention of replacing our other older fans but I would have to agree with some other reviews that they should in the future offer a more variety of color choices(eg. gold/oak, oiled bronze/walnut ..etc.) they would see a real increase in the sales of this great product.

Beautiful, very quiet, and stable ceiling fan. Strongly recommended.

This fan is perfect for small rooms or low ceilings. It's very quiet, does not wobble in the least bit, and is probably as flush or close to the ceiling as you will find in a fan. YLighting had the best price too!

Good fan but poor choice for older retrofit.

Purchased this fan to replace a worn out one which operated from a fan/light wall switch. Had hoped to bypass the remote control but discovered that it was required to change fan rotation. Now the wall switch must be on to operate the remote control. Apparently I should have purchased the wall switch with the fan. Wish I had known that the fan did not have an exterior switch to change the rotation. On the plus side, it was very easy to hang the fan housing and installing and removing the blades is a snap!

I absolutely love my new fans (I bought two and will buy the third one soon!)

This is the most elegant, functional fan I have ever seen, the remote control works wonders and you can even code the remote to a different setting if you have more of the same fans in your home so that when you turn one fan on, the other fans in other rooms do not go on at the same time following the wrong remote's command. I would give this product five stars but I gave it four because I would have loved it more if it included an energy efficiency bulb instead of the 100 Watts or something like that that it includes. I am a vegetarian environmentalist who is trying to save our earth for our children and energy efficiency lighting is one of my top priorities... I am going to be looking for bulb replacements for these fans, I hope they do make them! Other than that, the fans are TOP OF THE LINE!

Very nicely designed with a short wingspan which is perfect for our small dining room. I love the light and modern look. Runs quietly as well. Great buy!

Nice fan, but plastic blades seem odd

This fan has an incredibly quiet motor and a modern, sophisticated look. I bought the oil-rubbed bronze with taupe blades. The taupe blades are considerably lighter than the base. Combined with the fact that they are plastic, they look a little odd. A darker color for the blades would have been more attractive, in my opinion. I noticed some other lighting companies offer additional options for a "dark walnut" or a "dark maple" - not sure why these aren't available on y lighting.

Overall, it's a quality fan, but not quite as attractive as it looks in the photo (at least the oil-rubbed bronze one).

    Excellent small ceiling fan!

We purchased the fan to replace the current one in our kitchen. It was well worth the price. The fan creates great circulation compared to the old one. It is quite on high speed with no wobbling (like cheaper fans do). Some people complain that the light is too dim, but that is not a problem for us. It's was relatively easy to install, but much heavier than the old fan. This is our second Minka Aire fan. I wouldn't buy any other brand now!

    Superior in design and quality

Installation took 15 minutes compared to 3 hours to reinstall a Hunter Fan in a different room. The white ceiling hugger with halogen lighting succeeded in adding a dramatic touch as much as when I changed the wall paint color.

great ceiling fan / light, particularly for lower ceilings such as we have here in older parts of Miami.

great ceiling fan / light, particularly for lower ceilings such as we have here in older parts of Miami. they help hugely in keeping down the ac usage and have good form and function (particularly for the dollar value), dependable (2 units going on 4 years now) and just installing a third.

    Mostly satisfied.

I purchased two Concept II fans for my downstairs (converted basement) with ceiling height of just under eight feet, so I was very interested in low profile fans. The Concept II seemed to fit that bill, and it mostly does. I find it a sleek looking fan and it definitely fits the space, but i have at least two criticisms, one of which I hadn't seen reported before: 1) the light is a 100W halogen (on a dimmer) which doesn't put out much light (fortunately, I don't like large overhead lighting, so this is not a big deal, just an observation); and more importantly 2) the "flushmount" isn't exactly that. upon installation, you will find a gap between the top of the fan and the ceiling of about 1/4 inch.

Beautiful, but larger and bulkier than photo

This fan is sturdy and attractive but we had wanted to use it in a small den with low ceilings. Although it is described as a fan for a lower ceiling, its bulk and width make it too large for a small room.

    Contemporary, quiet and efficient.

The fan itself makes an architectural statement and looks best with the light cap on. It is extremely quiet and efficiently cools the room. I love it. I was surprised that the blades were plastic and was somewhat concerned the material would make the fan look cheap when installed. I was wrong. We like the fan enough to want to purchase another.

I like it very much, looks good and performs well.

The fan is quite nice looking and seems to work very well. We like the fact that it's contemporary but also fits in with some of the more traditional elements of our brownstone. I like the fact that it came with two different pole length options as the ceilings in the bedroom that it's in are rather low. We're very happy with it!

I love my new Concept Li flush veiling fan------the Hugger ! It's exactly what my low-ceilinged dining room needed.

The fan is extremely handsome----it's simple, elegant design, and quiet operation allow it to complement any decor. I love the reverse feature because it takes the air from opened windows and wafts it gently around the room, cooling without blowing down on the table. my guests are only aware of the freshness of the atmosphere, and I can use candles without the worry of flickering or extinguishing. It's perfect !

    Too little light output

Overall this is a nice fan. Very quiet, very little vibration noise, good functionality due to the wall mount switch with an integrated reverse button.

Unfortunately the light output is not sufficient for a 100W mini halogen lamp which I believe is equivalent to 150W of standard incandescent lighting.

The trouble lies in the design. Due to a very shallow light bowl and the thick milk glass shade most of the light gets lost inside the housing. Slight modifications should get rid of this problem.

I have it in a 11'x12' room with 8' ceiling and on its brightest setting it is not possible to read with this light.

    great value and functionality

I highly recommend this fan. I unpacked and installed it in less than 15 minutes. This is the second Concept II fan I have bought, they both work great. Very quiet, very little vibration noise. The remote has a reverse button, which is much easier than the Pharos by Modern Fan I have in my living room that requires you remove the light cover to get to the reverse switch. The remotes work very well you don't even have to point them at the fan.

Its very easy to install, the blades just snap into place, it only has two bolts for the mounting plate and four smaller ones to mount the fan to the plate. There is plenty of room for the remote module on top of the unit, unlike many other fans where it is such a tight fit.

Y-Lighting's service is outstanding, it was shipped very next day, received in less than a week. Other online lighting stores often have 2-3 week lead times, which they do not tell you when you are placing the order.

    Fantastic Fan.

We love the look, the sound (there is little), easy to install and the silver blades look black at night, which think is cool. Its design eliminates the wobble that some fans have and the style works in a retro 1940's kitchen.

The final element added to a renovated great room/ kitchen. Searched for months for the perfect fan that would accent the room. Found Minka that makes excellent products plus this product has a contemporary design with a retro look and it works perfect. The remote control is an added bonus .

This is one great fan! (pun intended...)

The Concept Ii ceiling fan really does snug up close to the ceiling, so that, even in a standard 8' high room, there isn't the slightest sense that it's hanging too low or that it might be a good idea to duck when walking under it. The variable speeds work just fine, as does the remote. I ordered two of these fans, and hung them differently -- one with the light installed and one without -- because the two rooms in question were lit differently. They both look "just right."

With an 8' ceiling in an upscale home our designer was unsure of his ability to find a suitable fan and was quite surprised as were we very happy upon locating this fan, it is quite stylish and suits well.

Colour size and style made it a perfect fit for our master bedroom. It is silent and effective. A good valued purchase.

    Remodel Housings

In contrast to new construction housings, remodeling housings are appropriate when you have limited or no access to the space above a new fixture, such as in an apartment or a home without crawl spaces or attics above.

    New Construction Housings

In contrast to remodeling housings, new construction housings are bulkier and need to be installed between joist beams or onto hangar bars and thus you need full access to the space above the fixture. This style is best used if you are building in a new space, gutting a room, or have an attic above or pop out ceiling, etc.

    Non-IC Rated

Non-IC stands for: non insulation contact. Thus, non-IC-rated housings must be kept at least 3 inches away from any insulation.

    IC Rated

IC stands for: insulation contact. Thus, IC-rated housings can come in direct contact with thermal insulation.

    MR16 Halogen Bulb

MR 16 is a standard format for halogen multifaceted reflector light bulbs. MR16 lamps are regularly used in place of standard incandescent light bulbs as they harness and shoot light, resulting in less light loss than a traditional bulb. These are best used when you want focused light such as in a pendant over a countertop or an accent light on a painting.
