Love this fan. True to the advertising, it doesn't wobble AT ALL and it's nice and quiet. The high speed is really powerful. We dont have a/c but tis fan keeps the (small) house nice and cool and refreshing. Installation was straightforward and easy except for screwing the motor to the cover but once you zen in on the task, it happens and if this is the price for a non-wobbling fan then I'll surely take it. All parts feel sturdy and solid, it's mostly metal. I got the white fan and it blends in perfectly with imy 1927 bungalow.

The website did not recommend a smaller blade but I am very happy with the look for my tiny house. A larger fan blade would overwhelm the space. The previous owners had installed a cheap chandelier with uplight which only lit up the ceiling and did nothing to illuminate the entry. We are in Kentucky and it is hot much of the time. The maple blades are not quite as light-colored as I&#39;d hoped, but they seem solid. We haven&#39;t yet gotten the balancing right, so it wobbles a lot on high speed, and doesn&#39;t push a huge amount of air on lower speeds. The single light is pleasant, though definitely supplementary rather than primary lighting for a room.</p><p>I&#39;d love to see the manufacturer offer a light kit that can put out more light and a pull chain control option. I have a very high and very sloped ceiling in my bedroom. With the largest extension the fan hangs down at a nice distance from the ceiling but without being intrusive in the room. I look forward to using it in the summer as even on the medium setting, the three blades create quite the breeze. On high, I might not want loose papers in the room!

The only drawback is there is not a button on the remote to change the direction of the way the blades blow. In winter, I would like the ceiling to push the air up, forcing the warm air to lower. If there is a switch on the fan (like my previous one) I can't see it.

We ordered two Altus fans from YLighting. An Altus Hugger for a bedroom, and the regular Altus to be installed in the livingroom, which has a two story ceiling. Since it hasn't been installed, we cannot comment on the operation of the Altus, but if it works like the Altus Hugger, it will be quiet and efficient. We did a lot of on-line research before ordering, searching not only for a good looking, contemporary, aluminum fan, but also a fan that with high ratings, and that is affordable. This is our second Modern Fan (we also have a Lapa hugger). These fans are very high quality, quiet, and -- of course -- stylish. We installed the Altus on a low (~8'), moderately sloped (22 degrees) ceiling and it looks and performs perfectly. The blades on this model are closer to the ceiling than many "hugger" fans, but it still moves a lot of air. Also very easy to install with simple, clear instructions.

My handyman who also does electrical installed my fan quickly and without confronting any issues. Since I had no electrical already installed in the ceiling location, he had to run wires from my tiny, hard to access attic. He did all that with the fan operating by remote solely within one and one-half hours. Now I have instant gratifying air movement for those warm, muggy days that we have been experiencing in La Jolla. I bought two Altus fans based on their simple clean lines and my previous history of easy installation of two Velo fans (also from Modern Fan Co.) After installing the first Altus, it was very wobbly and made a pronounced helicopter sound even on medium. It took my electrician several hours (for which I paid by the hour) to try to balance it, then take it apart, call YL to discuss, being told by YL that the most common problem with the Altus is a bent rotor, waiting a few days for a new rotor, and reassembling it only to find that it still had the same problem. My electrician then took it apart and really studied it (using a scale and level) and discovered that the motor was slightly off-center in the mushroom housing. Since the rotor attaches to the mushroom, it was throwing off the balance. This time we called Modern Fan, they over-nighted a whole new fan and it worked perfectly right out of the box! By this time, my electrician was pretty frustrated, but installed the second Altus. It had a slight wobble and made a helicopeter sound. Again, my electrician spent much time using the balancing kit, but it didn't help. By this time, my electrician quit saying in 10 years of installing fans, he'd never had problems and he would never work on this type of fan again. I again called Modern Fan and they sent a new set of blades that I installed myself and it was perfect on low and medium, but still wobbles on high. After spending hundreds of dollars more that I should have on the electrician, I gave up and will just not use high. I love the look of the fans and the breeze they create is fabulous. But based on two frustrating experiences, I would never buy another Altus fan! I must add that the customer service response from both YL and Modern Fan was very pleasant and responsive.

These fans have more air movement than conventional five-blade ceiling fans. They are quiet and for the mos part there is no "wobble". They also are very contemporary in appearance and are beautiful even when not in use.

The aluminum finish 3 blade Altus fan came with good instructions & took about 45" to install/replace. Be sure to attach the blades to the body before the final ceiling mounting. The fan is trim, well constructed and aesthetically vrey nice for those seeking a more modern design. It is a perfit fit for our newly remodeled Zinish bathroom. High marks!

FYI You will need a magnetic phillips head screwdriver to insert the fan blade screws into the rather hard to access screw holes. oOtherwise a very simple install.

The Altus ceiling fan is one of the Modern Fan Company's models. It is light, slender, whisper quiet and highly effective with minimal vibration. It was well packed with complete instructions, and the remote even comes with a battery. I chose ground shipping. This is a little slow from west coast to east coast, but the rate was pretty good.

The fan is pretty easy to install, but there is a specific sequence that you have to follow. You will need a phillips screwdriver and a wire cutter/stripper, presuming that the circuit and fan box are already present.

I liked it well enough that I ordered another one for another room.

I purchased a Ron Rezek lamp more than 25 years ago because it looked and worked great. I still use it regularly and it still looks like it just came off the drawing board. So I hoped this fan would have the same great design and quality. I have not been disappointed.

This fan works and looks great in our raised ceiling bedroom. It was easy to order and arrived promptly with excellent packaging. Although it is "Made in China" the materials are substantial, parts fit together well and the instructions are clear.

There was only one tricky point in the installation. Standing on a ladder, with the fan above you, it is challenging to align the four screws that mount the rotor because access is obscured. I found that by holding one screw in the rotor while lifting it with one hand, I could align the rotor and use my other hand to screw in a second screw. Once you have the two screws in place the remaining pair are easy.

Kudos to Ron Rezek once again!

The Altus Fan is gorgeous. I had 2 installed yesterday and the electrician was so impressed he asked me the cost, so he liked it, both from ease of installation and looks. It has a good range of speeds as I put one in a bedroom and one in a 12'6" ceiling (with their standard downrod) in a large great room. Both get the right amount of air.

One note--I had read reviews that it seemed weird to have the highest speed the first choice next to the off button. My installer says that is easiest on the motor--to go right to High Speed, then decrease the motor down, rather than starting low and making it ratchet up. Easy to do anyway, really, not a problem .

And it's just so cool looking, it improves the look of the whole room.

We love the look of the fan and it was comparatively easy to install. After reading a kitchen review and eyeing the fan in our old bedroom, I mistakenly ordered the short blades and the fan looks comically stubby. I have now ordered the long blades (which you can order here separately) will be glad when they arrive. Also note that the wall control wires so that '4' is slow and '1' is fast, which feels backwards. Its just he way it is. Other than that, we are happy.

We were looking for updated metallic ceiling fans with contemporary, modern styling, yet without an extremely modern edge. This fan met our requirements, yet when we installed the fan, we were really pleased with the quality of the brushed aluminum. The brushed finish has a high-quality luster that adds a warmth to the room. The extension rods and ceiling caps are made of the same aluminum as the base: outstanding quality. (The blades are painted wood). We have two of these fans and plan to install a third one.

Our installer said it was the easiest ceiling fan to install out of the fans he has installed to date. Only problem was that the control was 4 = low speed, 3= med, 2=med, 1 = high speed. Order a separate control if the speed configuration is an issue for you.
