Design by Ron Rezek.
The Aurora fan incorporates a circline fluorescent lamp within a translucent diffuser, providing the incandescent equivalent of 180 watts of long-lasting, color-corrected, energy saving fluorescent light. The innovative Aurora fan qualifies for the EPA's Energy Star labeling as a highly efficient, energy conserving design.
The bottom rotor is die-cast aluminum and along with the other metal components is available in either a brushed aluminum or gloss white finish. The body of the Aurora is an acrylic diffuser which transmits light both downward and reflects light upward for complete room lighting. The three blades are plywood construction and painted to match the fan finish. Choose from 42" or 52" blade span.
Note: The fluorescent ballast is not dimmable. Any control ordered with the Aurora will be supplied in a non-dimming version.
Includes 6" and 16" downrods for 14" or 24" overall height. Optional downrods are available for alternate heights. The Aurora fan can accommodate a sloped ceiling up to 33°. For slopes over 33° but under 45°, use the sloped ceiling adapter (sold separately).
Notes: NOT suitable for damp locations. Express shipping is available on this item. In most cases, orders received before 12:00 PM Pacific time will ship the same day.
Material(s): Die-cast aluminum rotor with acrylic diffuser and plywood blades

Ron Rezek designed the world's first contemporary-styled ceiling fan, the Stratos, in 1986. But his list of accomplishments in the design world is long and varied, from lifeguard equipment to contemporary lighting. In 1997, Ron started The Modern Fan Co. in Ashland, Oregon, which produces and sells only contemporary ceiling fans.
His ceiling fans have been widely used in hotels, restaurants, retail and institutional applications, and all types of residential projects.
Ron Rezek's Philosophy:
Modern Fan Company
Modern Fan Company. Consciously cool.
Modern Fan represents a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design. Designed by Ron Rezek, the Modern Fan Company's models celebrate the modern idiom through mechanical simplification, geometric forms and contemporary finishes. The unique ceiling fan styles of Modern Fan represent a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design (you won't find any wicker or flowery fans here!).
Great looking fan that moves air
The fan looks great and moves alot of air. I have a 42 inch in a 9x13 room, and a 52 inch in a 12x17 room, and they are great in those rooms. I also have a 52 inch in a 12x19 room and that is definitely the maximum size for this fan.

It exceeded my expectations and looks fantastic in our mid-century home.
This product exceeded all our expectations and looks fabulous in our new mid-century home. It was installed as part of a track lighting setup and functions as advertised and anticipated. The product looks great and is priced right!!

Light Bulb replacement Issue
I submitted a review initially that I was very pleased with the fan's appearance and function. Within 10 months, the bulb was burned out. Replacing it was a nightmare even with the professional technician who could not take apart and took down the entire unit and left it on the floor. Meanwhile, I contacted The Modern Fan Company and tried to follow instructions on how to replace the bulb. Following their instruction, we could not take apart. Company finally agreed to replace it for me and sent me a newer model which had a different looking roter assembly. Hopefully, it is easier to replace the bulb when timecomes. It seemed the receiver was a correct one so I cannot figure out why the bulb only lasted around 2000 hours. Also with everything working perfectly it takes 45 minutes to replace the light bulb. I am still giving the above rating as the problem I had was handled by The Modern Fan Company ver well. I still feel something to be desired in the way the fan is designed. I am willing to live with the replacement task it only it happens every three years or more. The fan has been working great.

This fan exceeds my expectations in looks and in function.
This fan exceeds my expectation in looks and in funtion. It was very easy to install, is very quite, and gives great lighting for the room. The design is very pleasing with the clean lines and sleek look. The remote is very handy. We plan to order another just like it for another room in our house.

Great product. We love the look, easy to use.
Great design and look. Easy to use. We have a clicking noise with fan on high but that may be installation issue. We are going to check it out and try to fix it.

very poorly designed!
The light fixture is above the fan blades so that when the light is on and the fan is running, the light flickers a constant moving shadow across the room.

Simple design, excellent uplighting, one design flaw....
We installed this fan in our office and love it - I ordered another one for my current renovation project. The design is simple and elegant, while the quality of the uplighting is superb. There is one major flaw with the fan is the need to remove the bottom part of the fan (fan blade assembly) to get to the circleline flourescent light bulb to replace it. Luckily, it is a long lasting bulb and it isn't necessary to change it very often!

Stylish, clean and simple, yet functional for a modern fan with a light.
Generally speaking, I am not a "fan" of fans with lights. I hate the look. I don't like multitasking bulking things hanging from a ceiling. I like the simple look. But for this particular bedroom, a light/fan combo was needed for practical reasons and it had to hang low. This particular model did the trick. Very practical, yet stylish and clean looking. My only big complaint is that it looks like I'll have to remove the blades to change out the circular bulb which mounts ABOVE the blades. Unless I am mistaken, that somehow the closed circular bulb can open to clear the down rod, it is going to be a huge pain to replace which is quite a flaw. I suppose it being fluorescent, it won't require changing as much, but nevertheless, a task when the time comes. I guess that's a justified sacrifice for the positives that come with this unit. Either way, I am a fan of this fan and would recommend.

Well designed and efficient product
We had Aurora installed several months ago and what a great fan this is. It is in my home office, where I had to turn on the four ceiling lights to see computers (300W); but the Aurora's light is sufficient for computer viewing now saving bundle of energy cost. I love the design and quietness as well. Hope to install one or two more later.

Sleek, contemporary designed ceiling fan for an affordable price.
Beautifully designed with concealed fasteners. Easy to follow instructions. Optional downrod lengths allow for personal preference for installation. Extremely quiet motor. Color corrected fluorescent light fixture @ 3000k is pretty good, but would have liked it to be a little closer to the color temperature of an incandescent bulb. In addition, I feel that the ceiling fan should automatically come with a standard wall control. Very satisfied with purchase.

Great looking, great performing fan
Install was easy with good instructions to guide me. The remote reciever was a tight fit in the fan base though. The balance was fine right out of the box so I didn't even need the balancing kit it came with. It pushes plenty of air and does it very quietly. We were concerned that the light might cast strobe-like shadows through the blades but no such thing occured. Great product. We plan on getting more fans from Modern Fan Company for our other rooms.

Q: Do the Aurora Fans cause a strobe effect?
A: Because there is a continuous light source (all the way around) the Aurora does not produce a true strobe effect. But some times the shadows behind objects in the room can appear to move a bit. The object is always lit but it is the shadow behind the object that can change angles.
