The Ball Hugger fan looks great. However, I ordered one in brushed aluminum and received a white one. To my surprise, I actually like the white and may decide to keep it.

It is a truly beautiful fixture, and I am not normally a fan of this category.

This is a solid heavy fan that runs extremely quiet. I had purchased a $300+ fan that was made of plasic and light weight. When I un pack the Modern Fan I was plesantly surprised at the quality. Actually I didn't even think they made things this well anymore.
YLighting delivered what they promised. A friend of mine actally order a Modern Fan from a local store a few days before I ordered mine and I recieved mine a week sooner and for a few dollars less.
I am getting ready to order another Modern Fan from Ylighting for my sunroom.

This was our fouth purchase of a Resek fan for updating homes in PA and NM, all from YLighting. Installation was straightforward and operation is quiet and smooth. Fans look great in both contemporary and more traditional settings.

We're stuck on the set screws in instruction panel 3 which are called canopy screws one place and set screws in another. We were able overcome this discrepancy with a little wiki help but the screws are nearly impossible to thread. One down, and two to go though it is not looking good. I'm guessing this is an important stability requirement so we're taking it seriously. I hope this message is as well. I'm sure the issue is poor threading but it is almost to the point where we're ready to return the fan.

I've been considering the Ball Hugger Ceiling fan for the past six months. I've probably explored every ceiling fan sold on the internet. In appearance, the ball hugger is not so modern that it doesn't fit with my mission style home. I like the functionality of the fan. It has three levels of air though you really need only the two levels...the highest level of circulation is a small tornado. Aside from the highest level of circulation, the fan is very quiet. The fan was very easy to assemble.
By:Candace , Homeowner (Pittsburgh, PA)
Everything is perfect except quite difficult to install due to very tight fit of receiver for remote control. If you don't use this type of remote, it would be perfect. It took me 4 hours to get it installed and I have installed lots of fans over the years.
By:Thomas F. , Homeowner (St. Louis, MO, USA)
We looked high and low for ceiling fans that didn't look tacky, and these are the solution: simple lines, elegant design, substantive look without being intrusive. Unfortunately, our home redesign took a different turn and we can't use them and are returning them -- a sad day. But we're planning that next year's work in other parts of our home will incorporate them.
By:Christian F. , Homeowner (Buffalo NY)
This fan looks sleek, simple & clean. it's quieter than i imagined and gives a lot of cooling power. I love it! my package arrived as ordered by UPS. I bought the light for the fan but i like the look of the fan without the overhead lite.
By:marcella g. , Homeowner (chicago il)
We're much happier than even expected. The installation was simple and the effectiveness of this product is excellent. Highly recommended.
By:Chris C. , Homeowner (Philadelphia, PA)
I went for ceiling fans over air conditioning for many reasons, and my electrician recommended Moden Fans. I bought these models: Ball, Cirrus and Lapa and have the Cirrus installed with a light over my range (on an island in the kitchen). It looks great, works really well, and the light is a godsend. I have remote controls for 4 of the fans, which is mounted on the wall by the light switch, and I love them. The other 3 fans have wall switches. The fans all look well made, very modern, which fits my decor and they move the air extremely well. Who needs air conditioning anyway? These were much less expensive and they get the job done.
By:Julie B. , Homeowner (Victor, ID)
We opened the box but did not unpackage all the parts. The fan seems to be of high quality and the design is great. Unfortunately, with living in an 84 year old home with medium height ceilings, we were unable to install the fan and have to return it. We're opting to use floor fans instead. Despite this, we would recommend Y lighting to someone who is looking for a modern ceiling fan for the good product and efficient customer service. Hopefully Y lighting will have some light fixtures we can order for our home. We gave the fan four stars because we did not get a chance to see it operating since we did not install it.

My husband and I have been looking for the right fan for our bedroom for a while. We have highish ceilings for NYC and a room thats about 15 x 15. We went for the 52" with the wall/remote control. Choosing the power was a little confusing on the web site alone, but when I called and spoke to a sales rep, they knew exactly what we needed. We had to have this professionally installed because we wouldn't have been able to figure this out if we tried. Not because its so difficult, but because we just aren't that handy. It took a total of 3 hours for the professional electrician from unpacking it, putting it together and cleaning up when done.
Low speed is pointless. Settings Med and High work great, depending on how much air you want to move. Also, the fan is basically silent even on the highest speed - a major bonus.
We ordered the one with a light which is probably the down side of the product. It's a 75 watt halogen but really doesn't light up the room at all. Pretty pointless unless you like a very dim sort of glow. It also came with the aluminum globe in the box so we can just cover it up if we want.
Overall, we HIGHLY recommend this product - and it looks cool too!
By:Leslie B. , Renter (NYC)
Beautiful streamlined design. So refreshing compared to all those "Victorian" fans out there! Got the 42" blades. Be aware that the main part of the fixture containing the motor is the same size whether you get the 42" blades or the 52" size. The fixture really looks better proportionally with the 52" blades, which I believe is the size shown in pictures. This fan cools my 15'x12' room extremely well. The "High" setting is actually produces too strong a wind for me! I got the remote control, and it works well, too. The fan "responds" to the remote quickly and smoothly. I find this fan to be very quiet. FYI...The fan's "Summer/Winter switch" which changes the direction of the blade rotation, is located inside the round part of the unit, so you must unscrew the unit in order to access the switch. It is not located externally like on some fans. This must have been a design choice to keep the fan as "clean" and streamlined-looking as possible. Overall, it's well-worth the price.
By:S , Homeowner (Seattle, WA)
works well and looks great. I use it with a light and though it is not the most powerful it is adequate for a smaller bedroom.
would definately recommend.

I love the ball hugger fans! We installed three ball hugger fans in our finished basement. The fans look marvelous -- they are sleek and modern and VERY quiet.
By:Jonathan M. , Homeowner (Great Neck, NY)
We have put this fan to good use while we awaited the mechanical system in our new home to be completed. A great fan with good straight forward design and construction.
By:John S. , Architect (Salt Lake)
We bought two 42" fans with halogen lights in white and aluminum finishes. The fan operation is very quiet. The light quality is not the best; it's very white and creates glare without creating much illumination for the room. I also wish it were round to compete the "ball" shape, instead of like a bullet tip. We ended up buying additional 52" blades for the aluminum fan because the proportion seemed really off with the shorter blades. It was not so noticeable on the white fan in a white room so we left that one with the 42" blades. All-in-all, we are happy with our purchase.
By:Jeanne D. , Architect (Los Angeles, CA)
If you've ever struggled with the classic conflict of having a (gasp) ceiling fan in a modern setting, your desires have been answered here. The hugger is perfect for 8'-0" ceilings and looks great in silver - it's not you grandmother's ceiling fan.
The wall controls are a bit 80's, but you can always pre-wire with a three way to use a lutron or leviton product instead. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and would order the same units again.
By:Kenji , Architect (NYC)
This fan is sleek, modern, simple, and the light provides an excellent source of light. The only downside is that I found out that the proce of the fan was reduced by $60 only 2 weeks after we recived our fan. Otherwise, we are pleased with the product.
By:Eva K. , Homeowner (Palo Alto, CA)
It is perfect for the kids bedroom that I bought it for. Modern, sleek and simple.
By:Tracy E. , Designer (Santa Monica, CA)
the design was beautiful for our baby's room. Easy to install and use.
This ceiling fan is a perfect marriage of function and design. It is well made and reasonably priced. I am very happy with the product.
By:Kristen W. , Designer (Buffalo, NY USA)
This is my second fan from Modern Fan Company and this one looks and operates just as well as the first one. Installing this one was quite frustrating however; these types of things usually come very easily to me. Aligning the fan to the bracket probably could have been much easier with very minor tweaks to the design. All of this is complicated by the fact that you are working flush with the ceiling and there is no good way to see when the fan is aligned properly. Probably best to have two adults installing - one to hold the weight of the fan and one to align it. Nonetheless, I was able to get 'er up there after an hour long battle and it looks great. Despite the hassle, I believe these are the best fans around and you can't beat the price from ylighting.

i've installed the cirrus in my home, a cirrus in my parents home and now the ballhugger for a client. its very sharp looking (in white).
By:Ryan S. , Architect (Minneapolis, MN)
Installation was easy with clear instructions and no missing parts. The fans have very clean lines and and are extremely quiet. We would highly recommend this product. Also the ordering process was very efficient.

Love the looks of the fan. It installed easily and works perfectly. I would highly recommend it - it's my second Modern Fan.
By:Alexis S. , Homeowner (Kendall park NJ)
I just installed the all Hugger in our master bedroom and love it. By far the easiest fan installation I have done, and I have done quite a few. The fan looks great and is so quiet at all the settings.
By:jose H. , Homeowner (Minneapolis, MN)
Purchased the Ball Hugger and couldn't be happier. A little bit of a challenge to install, some of the screws are too small and easily stripped, but after it's up, it's great. Runs quietly and moves a lot of air. All of that and beautiful as well.
By:Jscolas1 , Homeowner (portland, or)
Form and function, beautiful and quiet. But it is a challenge to install so hire a professional unless you are knowlegeable.
By:Lynn , Homeowner (Pennsylvania)
With so few choices on the market for non-faux-vintage looking fans, especially for a relatively compact space (we have 9' ceilings), the Ball Hugger fits the bill nicely. We bought one a few years ago and just now bought another. It may not move the most air around, and the lamp could be a bit brighter, but overall it's quite nice and looks good when you look at it at all, which is not that often, since the design is purposely modest.
I a little bit can't believe its name, though.
By:steev , Homeowner (new york city)
When the designers selected the Ball Hugger fan for my office remodel, I wasn't sure. Now that I have installed it (which was really easy with 2 sets of hands), I love it. Distributes a lot of air very quietly.
The only negative is the screw heads that attach the blades to the unit are visible when not in use and detract from the sleek look.
By:Metamarshall , Homeowner (Jacksonville, FL)
This fan looks perfect in our great room. We have looked in numerous stores for a fan like this without any success. The clean lines give it an updated look without being too contemporary which makes it very versatile with many different home styles.
By:Todd , Homeowner (MA)
my fan arrived promptly and was packaged securely, no damage. installation was simple and all the hardware fit. this is a solid, functional and well-made fan...
By:Mark , Homeowner (Albany, NY)
We have and old house and wre redoing the kitchen ,,, more modern and needed a new ceiling fan ... the Ball Hugger Ceiling Fan looks great and works like a breeze. It was shipped fast and arrived in great condition.
By:Tim Hansen. (Mass.)
We have looked far and wide for a fan that met our aesthetic needs, along with the height restrictions our ceiling creates. The ball hugger (amazing name) really appeared to be and is the fan for us. We did the 42 inch blades and I think we could have gotten by with the 52 - my husband felt the room was too small. The 42 does really move the air though and looks just fine with the base (I saw other people who mentioned the fan look odd with the smaller blades and I do not agree). We are very happy with the product and the service - looks very high-end and came timely and no damage. Best deal I could find on this fan, too.
By:heather s. (phoenix, az)
i was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this fan. it is almost silent at max setting, but blows plenty of air around to cool us here in the new york city summer. i have installed 4 of these in the house now. they're just nice and simple, and with the white, blends into the background completely. this is what good utilitarian design should be. however...
my gripe is the wall control (and the remote too). no way were these designed by the same people who created the fan. if you like cheap looking 1980's plastic doctor's waiting room fixtures, then you'll be over the moon with this. and if any other reviewer comes across any nicer looking i'd love to see it. the lutron stuff looks just as crappy to my eyes too... there's a huge gap in the market for simple, unobtrusive, well designed wall controls, that don't look cheap and nasty, or scream hi-tech. i have enough switches, buttons and flashing lights in my life already, just give me a simple switch please...
By:mr b , Homeowner (new york)
We installed this fan in white on a white ceiling - we didn't want it to stand out, since the room is fairly small and the ceiling kind of low. It does exactly what we wanted it to do - it moves a lot of air despite the 42" size, runs quietly and hides itself. The wireless remote in the the standard switch box was easy to install and works perfectly.
A great deal for the price - highly recommended.
By:AK , Homeowner (LA, CA)
We went with the halogen (non-fluorescent) light and, as others have noted, it is very dim. Prompt delivery on the day promised.
By:Pat , Homeowner (New York)
The installation definitely requires two people. Very good design for low ceilings; ours is 8'. Impressed with clean, efficient design. Y Lighting delivery very quick. Highly recommend this fan.
By:mph , Homeowner (Riverside, CA, USA)
Assembly was a breeze with this fan and the installation was the easiest I have ever performed. The look far surpasses any other brand of ceiling fan for a modern / post-modern architectural aesthetic. A+ Modern Fan Company!!!!
By:Warren C. , Homeowner (Nashville, TN)
The Ball Hugger is great looking limited drop fan and has a fun name to share with friends. The CFL light kit is a cool white and not suited for a bedroom so we had to take the fan back down and reinstall with the dimmable halogen. Instillation of the remote version is a little tricky as the remote receiver barely fits in the housing and stuffing wires on top of that tries patience.
By:Michael , Homeowner (Minneapolis)
I recenlty installed the Ball Hugger ceiling fan in one of our bedrooms. The installation was a piece of cake. This Fan is well balanced and performs at low and high speed very quietly. It is made with high quality materials and parts and looks very sharp. It was worth the cost and effort to install.
By:Dean J. , Homeowner (Washingtion State)
The ball hugger ceiling fan is both stylish and functional. The fan's motor is extremely quiet. I bought it with the light kit. The old fixture only had 2 way wiring, I was able to use the remote control kit and everything worked out fine. You need the halogen bulb for the dimmer to work. A bit difficult to put up but now that it's installed I am very satisfied.
By:Chris , Homeowner (Winthrop MA)
last time i had a ceiling fan it looked like it should be in some gross bowling alley so this was a huge upgrade. it is very sleek and simple. i upgraded to the halogen light and remote control and am very happy i did. it's very quiet unless you have it on the hi setting. the hi setting almost feels like a wind tunnel but we rarely put it on hi because the medium setting is plenty of air. we have it in our bedroom which has a standard ceiling so obviously the hugger was the right choice.
By:Matt V. , Homeowner (Los Angeles, CA)
we have multiple modern fans throughout our house in the aluminum ball hugger style -- they're the best! keep the air moving, easy to clean, easy to install, easy to operate. some of our work on a remote, others through a dimmer switch on the wall. all of them are great!
By:Betsy , Homeowner (minneapolis)
Bought the Ball Hugger ceiling fan with halogen light fitting for my daughter's bedroom and she loves it. After much deliberation we went for the 52" in all aluminium. We were a bit worried that it might look too big but it is perfect. The 75w light doesn't give out enough light to work effectively as a single source of light in the room but I picked this up from previous comments so was prepared. When on the highest setting, the fan makes a slight noise but again I had picked this up from previous comments. The medium setting is more than sufficient. My only slightly negative comment is that the original bulb holder was faulty and we needed to contact customer services to request a replacement. We received it within a few days and it was easy to fit. So other than the few days my daughter was without an overhead light we are pleased with the purchase and the service we received.

The Modern Fan brought together everything we were looking for in a ceiling fan: fashion and function.
By:Kevin M. , Homeowner (Minneapolis, MN, USA)
I now own two Ball Hugger fans as well as the Stratos fan. These fans are quiet, attractive, constructed well and appropriate for my 8 foot ceiling height.
I would highly recommend these fans. For my application, I did have my contractor install them for me.
Thank you YLighting for excellent customer service and insight into the right fan for my dwelling.
By:Loretta , Homeowner (Tarrytown, New York)
We got the 42" gloss white Ball Hugger for my sons' bedroom. It looks really great: the 42" is nice, proportionally, for their small room, and the smaller blade size makes for cuter proportions in terms of the fan's overall look (good for a youth room). I don't know if it's a function of the fan's motor, or just because it's such a small space (the room is about 10x12'), but it creates some really strong wind!! We got the compact fluorescent bulb to save energy. Not terribly bright but passable as the main light source in the small room.
By:April W. , Homeowner (Virginia)
I got tired of my old vibrating ceiling fan and looked at what was available. Liked the way the Ball Hugger looked and was intrigued by the wall mounted remote. It came as quickly as advertised, was easy to install, and the wall switch is awesome. Doesn't vibrate at all and looks wonderful. Will but another one.
By:TP (Chapel Hill North Carolin)
We love this fan and wonder how we did without it. Quiet well balanced easy to install by one person thanks to the support cable. We will definitely be buying another one of these within the year for our other room. We bought the two wire control and installation was straight forward. My only gripe about it was that the threading on the mounting plate attached to the ceiling wasn't so good. That coupled with the angle the screwdriver had to turn the screw at you are liable to strip the screw before it goes in all the way. My light kit was also missing three screws to the bezel the glass twists into.
By:Andrew , Homeowner (Sactown)
I was replacing an older fan so that made the install easier since the ceiling was all wired and ready to go. It still took me over an hour to get it right, but that's not bad for doing it alone and no prior experience. Once installed it looks great, very cool. The optional light does take away from the look though, I guess that's a compromise. I'm considering buying a second one for another room.
By:Donald S. , Homeowner (Costa Mesa, CA)
By:Mike C. , Homeowner (Potomac md)
These fans are a great choice for those looking for understated style and classic simplicity. I would recommend the 52" blade length for most applications as the 42" is quite small even in small rooms.
By:Faye , Architect
It's a great looking fan, quiet, and easy to operate. I didn't get the remote but it comes with the wall switch that has the fan and light buttons. I like the way it looks.
By:Garine G. (Reseda, CA)
smooth operation, works great, really appreciate the fast shipping time.
By:Julie G. (Tucson, AZ)
I'm very happy with this fan. It looks great, moves a lot of air, and is virtually silent. My only complaint is that the wall switch is not the best. I wish there was a simple "on/off" or dimmer switch for the light. Instead, it's a push-button. It's not that big a deal, but it's a little hard to hit that button in the dark. Still, I'm pleased with my purchase.
By:J. S. , Homeowner (Los Angeles, CA)
I purchased the 52" Ball Hugger fan for our newly added 3 season porch.
I love the contemporary styling. It is simple, yet elegant in its simplicity. The fan is very quiet.
I am planning to order another fan from Y lighting for our bedroom.
By:Phyllis W. , Homeowner (Madison, WI)
this is a great fan. very quiet even on the highest setting, elegant, and easy to install. highly recommended.
By:Kate , Homeowner (nyc, ny)
I liked the clean, simple shape I saw in the pictures. I hoped the construction would match. It did. Installation was fast and it looks beautiful. The single piece, solid aluminum body is wonderful. I've been running it at high for 3 days straight and it's still silent and balanced.
I got the silver-painted blades and they look great. However, if I could go back I might get the maple finish since I'm not a fan of silver-painted wood.
By:John M. , Homeowner (Austin, TX)
Looks really nice with or without the lighting kit. It's rare to find a fan so versatile. The quality of the fan is high, all the parts feel solid. There's a small hook and wire to hang the fan from while connecting the wires, this is a nice touch. There's no wobble at all (granted this is the hugger version).
The directions are a bit unclear but if you have installed a fan before, it should be fairly simple. The fan comes with four bags of screws. Each bag of screws corresponds to a separate step in the instructions. The bags are labelled with stickers that don't stay on (two of the stickers fell off). This caused a little confusion that could be solved if Modern Fan Co labeled their packaging better. Minor gripe though and the only reason I am not giving the fan 5 stars.
Notes: Make sure to get the halogen light if you want to use a dimmer.
By:Tom W. , Homeowner (Minneapolis, Minnesota)
Pros: The fan looks nice with or without a light kit and there is virtually no wobble. The parts feel solid when taking them out of the box and assembling.
Cons: The 4 screw bags are labeled with stickers that peeled off easily. It's not too big of a deal if you have installed a ceiling fan before.
Overall it's a great fan and I'm really happy with the purchase.
By:Tom W. (Minneapolis Minnesota)
This is a great fan. The many different control options available help suit our needs. Great low-profile housing works with lower 8-foot ceilings and looks cool too. I recommend the halogen lamping option as well. It produces a great quality of light that illuminates all colors in the room.
By:Barry B. , Homeowner (New Orleans, La)
Works well with a very low profile
By:Winston R. , Homeowner (Chicago, IL)
This is a great fan! Looks nice and sleek, no unnecessary decorative elements and pretty quiet.
By:Herndon D. , Designer (Bloomington, Indiana)
Six years ago we moved from a large Victorian house in which I had installed several ceiling fans, to an apartment and a cooperative retirement community. Our apartment has very good air conditioning and so–so heating, and we decided that we might improve the situation with a good ceiling fan. We wanted something close to the ceiling, unobtrusive, and quiet.
We purchased a Ball Hugger, made by the Modern Fan Company. Even with the discounted price at Y Lighting this is not a cheap fan, but it is well worth the money. Compared to the traditional, older model fans we have used in the past, this is a great improvement. On low speed is very quiet, and even at higher speeds what we mostly hear is the rushing of air.
By:Bert P. , Homeowner (Sleepy Hollow, New York)
I haven't installed this one yet, but I have the same fan, in the non-hugger variety and I like it. I'm complimented on the disign frequently, it's quiet and it gets the air moving.
By:Heather H. (Seattle, WA)
The fan works great
I have 8foot ceilings and the ball hugger fan fits snug and extremely quiet
By:Marc P. , Homeowner
The fan looks even better in person than pictures. Installation was super easy. Can't imagine a better fan for sleek, modern rooms.
By:Timothy T. , Homeowner (Reston, VA)
Bought this fan for my daughter's room in white. Love the light, control plate is great and it really moves a lot of air.
By:Pamela T. , Homeowner (Southern California)
i am not a big ceiling fan lover, but with the heat here and the cost of AC, it is necessary for every room in our house. i like this one. it looks good, works well, makes no sound other than the movement of air and has a nice variety of speeds. the detail on the blades could be better - the simple lines border on being cheap-looking. also, our electrician had a hard time getting it flush with the ceiling because the remote receiver took up so much space. all said, i will be buying more as the ones in other rooms need replacing.
By:Janice D. , Homeowner (st. Louis, MO)
It is sleek and smart.
It is a really good fan.
By:Jen L. , Designer (Mount pleasant)
Because I'm a very practical person, I am drawn to objects that work hard and look good. This fan does just that. I have one in our home in NY and 3 in our home in Austin. I bought the 3 fans in Texas from them, they arrived promptly and in good condition. Even our contractor down there told us how beautiful they are and how easy they were to install. It's a good quality fan with a clean, simple design. It works!
By:Victoria L. , Designer (Scarsdale, NY USA)
Looks great. However, the blades are cheap. They are slightly warped and it's very noticeable at the highest speed. At this price the fan should come with good metal blades instead of the mdf crap.
By:ModFan , Homeowner (CA)
While I haven't installed the fan yet, I do want to say that it is prettier in person than in pictures. I bought the version with the light, and I was concerned that the light would throw off the fans proportions. I was pleasantly surprised that even with the light the fan looks great. Also, the fan included an aluminum "dome" in case I decide to remove the light, which was another nice surprise. So far I'm very pleased.
By:E.M. , Homeowner (Denver, CO)
I like my fans like I like my jeans, I'm so glad I chose this fan. I chose it over the likes of other models.
By:M. D. , Homeowner (Atlanta, Georgia)
The ball hugger really got a hold of me, and my partner Jim. We are in the architecture business for home designs, and truly found the piece gravitating. Looks beautiful in person, the cut sheet doesn't do it justice!
By:Dustin H. , Homeowner (Loganville Ga)
The fan is really excellent. However, the compact fluorescent light kit comes with a surprise: it doesn't take standard, medium base CFL bulbs. Instead it uses only something called a GU-24 "Squat". The supplied bulb lasted less time than an ordinary incandescent. When I tried to replace it, I discovered that I couldn't buy it at any local hardware store, but had to order it online. The GU-24 base, it turns out, is a product of California busy-body regulators who wanted to force people to use CFLs, but figured that it had to have a new base, or some people would just keep on using incandescent. The result is an odd-ball size that no one uses anyway. On top of that, this light kit uses a "squat" version because the normal size won't fit into the glass globe, making this bulb doubly rare. So, buyer beware!!
By:Archie N. , Homeowner (Washington DC)
We are very pleased with our purchase of a Ball Hugger Ceiling Fan. It runs smooth, quiet and is sleek in appearance. I would highly recommend this fan. It adds a classic yet contemporary look to a room. The picture on line does not do it justice, as the proportions and blades are much more interesting and beautiful in person. Simply a great choice for any room with a lower ceiling. The Halogen option gives plenty of good light.
By:V.S. , Homeowner (Durham, North Carolina)
Have purchased other Modern Fan products and have not been disappointed. Design is unlike anything else on the market...clean and contemporary. Price is higher, but quality is better than most other fans sold. Ball Hugger style has a clean sleek look. Very happy with this fan...plan to buy more for rest of the rooms in the house.
By:S.M. , Homeowner (New Jersey)
Overall we're quite happy with the quality, fit and mechanics of this fan. Our one qualm with it is that the light does not dim; our fault for not reading the specs in full and making an assumption...but would still be nice. The fan is wonderfully quiet and moves a great deal of air.
By:J.A. , Homeowner (Charlotte, NC, USA)
Installation did not go smoothly. One of the holes in the ceiling plate was flawed and made it difficult to thread a screw through it. I called the manufacturer and the not so friendly rep sent me a replacement that was way worse than the first. The entire ceiling plate was bent out of shape and scratched up as though it were a return from someone else. Now that the fan is up, it looks great and operates well.
By:Anne , Homeowner (Atlanta, GA)
Outstanding product. Elegant, quiet, and dimmable with easy to use one touch button. Best of all, it remembers the last used light level and returns to it automatically next time light is turned on - the two wire fan and light control is well worth the extra $40 if you get the version with the light.
By:MrsChicagoLouisville , Homeowner (Chicago/Louisville)
Beautifully designed and well constructed this fan is quiet and a work horse...we use it winter and summer (just change the direction) to make our house comfortable.
By:RezekFan , Homeowner (California)
By:Trish D. , Designer (Ridgewood, New Jersey)
It was a very difficult installation, costing almost as much as the fan itself...directions were difficult and obscure & it did not
come equipped to have a fully dimmable light, and adjustable
fan speed, which I had made a point of asking about. The contractor broke through walls and ceiling and finally arranged it all on the wall switch...the light is very dim
and we are going to have to look for another bulb tomorrow;
I like the looks of it but this whole thing was a real handful!

This is my second ball hugger fan purchase from Y lighting and I am very pleased with their customer service, attentiveness, and fast shipping. Both fans provide adequate lighting for the bedrooms in which they have been installed and the fans are soothing- they are quiet, but not silent. I chose the longer 52" blade span as it looks better architecturally and though I was afraid it might've looked too large in my 12x12 size nursery, it looks terrific! Overall, I am happy with purchase and with Y lighting.

I purchased this fan for a renovation. It was installed by my contractor. I love it's clean modern appearance. Works well with no issues so far.

Installed this fan with the light kit in our living room. Looks great, gives good light, and the fan is very quiet even when it's on the highest setting.
I got 3 of these fans. 2 with the light kit and 1 without. The fan is quiet and looks great.

Great looks and reversible options for the direction of the blades for both warm and cool weather. Easy to install and shipping was fast and easy! I have this fan also in the brushed silver and it makes the room. You will be very happy with this fan!

I just added a third Ball Hugger with Halogen light kit, completing the replacements in our 3 bedrooms. The fans are beautiful, well-built and quiet - nothing but air whoosh at high speed, and only a minimal low hum at low speed, where we keep it the majority of the time. We run these with Lutron Maestro combo light/fan control wall switches.
