Design by Ron Rezek.

The Flute may reference a centuries-old Roman architectural theme, but it is modern in every respect. Available in either a textured nickel or gloss white finish. The blades are a plywood laminate and available in your choice of nickel, white or maple with a blade span of either 42" or 52". The detailing of the optional light kit is complementary to the die-cast body and is available with either an incandescent or compact fluorescent light source.

The Flute fan only, or fan with a compact fluorescent light source, has earned the Energy Star rating. The fan can accommodate a sloped ceiling up to 33°. For slopes over 33° but under 45°, use the sloped ceiling adapter (sold separately). Includes 4" and 12" downrods, yielding 16" or 24" overall height. Optional downrods available for alternate heights.

Ron Rezek

Ron Rezek designed the world's first contemporary-styled ceiling fan, the Stratos, in 1986. But his list of accomplishments in the design world is long and varied, from lifeguard equipment to contemporary lighting. In 1997, Ron started The Modern Fan Co. in Ashland, Oregon, which produces and sells only contemporary ceiling fans.

His ceiling fans have been widely used in hotels, restaurants, retail and institutional applications, and all types of residential projects.

Ron Rezek's Philosophy:
"I don't think contemporary means a stark white room. I think it means a tasteful alignment of important elements. There are some designers who copy the Modernists who have come before. But I think 'contemporary' is the pursuit of the new." "People assume that all contemporary fixtures are more functional than traditional ones. That is because contemporary fixtures are easier to clean and they seem to be more utilitarian based on their appearance. And because of their simplicity and lack of ornamentation, they also have an alliance with the industrial look. But all of this doesn't necessarily translate into function. The Modern Fan Co.'s fans are designed to be functional and energy efficient. This is part of being contemporary and pushing the edge. Energy efficiency is the wave of the future."

Modern Fan Company

Modern Fan Company. Consciously cool.

Modern Fan represents a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design. Designed by Ron Rezek, the Modern Fan Company's models celebrate the modern idiom through mechanical simplification, geometric forms and contemporary finishes. The unique ceiling fan styles of Modern Fan represent a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design (you won't find any wicker or flowery fans here!).

Awesome

This fan is amazing. It looks great and is extremely efficient. We have it on a 6' downrod, and there is still no movement when the fan is on high. Highly recommend!

modern vs. rustic

how does one turn a log home into a space with a few contemporary twists?... Lighting, and paint is a good start. I LOVE my new ceiling fan, and the design is not fussy and it works perfectly. I received my fan in a timely manner, and Ylighting is a very professional company, and they sell great quality products. I love my fan, the lights i have purchased from them in the past.

A cloud of cool!

Forgive the pun, but i have never been a fan of fans. The ones in our house were noisy and just seemed to blow a lot of air about without truly cooling the room, a factor which is highly important in Miami. While I have to admit that we selected this fan for its looks, its performance is unparalleled. The Flute Fan creates a cloud of cool and forces it down toward the ground so one truly feels its effect. Our electricity bill has already gone down!

Excellent design.

Excellent design and finish. The style works well in more formal settings. The fan is very easy to install functions well.

Disappointed at appearance

I bought this because I wanted the look of an industrial fan (metal) and it is really just spray painted a light battleship gray. The blades are wood painted the same gray. I am very disappointed that it just looks like a gray fan and not the least bit metallic. Now I think this is way overpriced for what I got.

Customer Questions:

Q: Can multiple fans be operated from one remote control?

A: For the Modern Fans- as long the fans are fan only and do not include light kits, multiple fans can be operated from one remote. Additional receivers will need to be ordered for each additional fan.
