Design by Ron Rezek.
By Modern Fan Company.

In a raw galvanized finish the Industry Fan evokes a retrospective Industrial age image while also incorporating the most current motor and control technologies to provide a quiet, contemporary product. The fan lends itself well to exposed ceiling interiors, coordinating with galvanized ducting, conduit and industrial-style lighting.

The Industry Fan is constructed of heavy gauge steel stampings which are hot-dipped in zinc for the galvanized finish. The four blades are available in your choice of white, silver or maple and with a blade span of either 42" or 52". The optional light kits include a tapered cylinder with an open bottom (adds 5" to height of the fan), or a schoolhouse globe (adds 4" to height of the fan). Choose from either incandescent or fluorescent lamping. Includes 2" and 9" downrods for 17" or 24" overall height. Optional downrods available for alternate heights. The fan can accommodate a sloped ceiling up to 33°. For slopes over 33° but under 45°, use the sloped ceiling adapter (sold separately).

The Fan is powered by a 18 pole stack motor drawing one amp. The reversible fan can run at any of three speeds which are controlled by two capacitors. The Industry fan has conventional pull chains for both speed and light control, however with these switches left in their high position any of Modern Fan Company's standard wall or remote controls can be used. Note: Any control ordered with a fan that has been configured with an energy-saving CFL will be supplied in a non-dimming version.

  • Airflow measured in cubic feet per minute at high speed (CFM) = 6056.28
  • Watts at high speed = 84.3
  • Airflow efficiency at high speed (CFM/Watts) = 71.84

Ron Rezek

Ron Rezek designed the world's first contemporary-styled ceiling fan, the Stratos, in 1986. But his list of accomplishments in the design world is long and varied, from lifeguard equipment to contemporary lighting. In 1997, Ron started The Modern Fan Co. in Ashland, Oregon, which produces and sells only contemporary ceiling fans.

His ceiling fans have been widely used in hotels, restaurants, retail and institutional applications, and all types of residential projects.

Ron Rezek's Philosophy:
"I don't think contemporary means a stark white room. I think it means a tasteful alignment of important elements. There are some designers who copy the Modernists who have come before. But I think 'contemporary' is the pursuit of the new." "People assume that all contemporary fixtures are more functional than traditional ones. That is because contemporary fixtures are easier to clean and they seem to be more utilitarian based on their appearance. And because of their simplicity and lack of ornamentation, they also have an alliance with the industrial look. But all of this doesn't necessarily translate into function. The Modern Fan Co.'s fans are designed to be functional and energy efficient. This is part of being contemporary and pushing the edge. Energy efficiency is the wave of the future."

Modern Fan Company

Modern Fan Company. Consciously cool.

Modern Fan represents a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design. Designed by Ron Rezek, the Modern Fan Company's models celebrate the modern idiom through mechanical simplification, geometric forms and contemporary finishes. The unique ceiling fan styles of Modern Fan represent a new age in ceiling fans — the marrying of efficient function with contemporary design (you won't find any wicker or flowery fans here!).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Fan. A bit noisy. The Industry fan was everything I expected. Unfortunately, it was a tad noisy, making an electrical buzzing noise when used with the remote. It was suggested after I had called regarding this to directly wire it to the power to see if the sound is eliminated. I haven't tried this yet. Otherwise, it's the look I'm going for. I also would have like an option in lighting kit besides halogen (annoying and expensive) and that strange new cfl screw-in type. The best option would have been traditional screw in bulb to allow us the choice to use an incandescent or cfl bulb in the old screw-in manner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! I am very impressed with this product. It is solidly designed, well constructed, and perfectly balanced. The fan produces almost no noise, even at maximum speed. Installation and the associated instructions are well written and easy to follow. One comment for the electronic designers - I received the fan speed wall control with the fan. It has four settings, 0 through 4. Zero is, naturally, off but one is maximum speed and four is the lowest speed. It would be more intuitive to reverse this order. However, the product is excellent and I have no hesitation about recommending it to others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I LOVE this fan! I was attracted to the funky, old barn/machinery look of this fan for a "rustic" yet modern room and it works perfectly! It was easy to install and the wall unit works well. There was a bit of miscommunication about the light kit, and I called the company and they quickly and cheerfully sent the one I wanted. My ONLY complaint is the "Maple" blades look more like composite board [which they are..] rather than actual light maple.. but the fan is rather high up so it doesn't matter too much in this room..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Industry ceiling fan is a very nice product. The Industry ceiling fan is a very nice product and looks perfect in my bedroom. Installation is easy and once up, the fan is very quiet and works well. The industrial finish has variation so if you are looking for a uniform finish this isn't the fan for you. I only have two small complaints that keep this from getting 5 stars: 1) the "bulb" part of the fan where the light kit would go (if I had one) is slightly crooked on mine. It doesn't affect performance but does look funny if you catch the right angle and 2) I think this fan is very expensive for what you get. If it were in the $200-250 range, it would be much more reasonable. Aesthetically, I was after a certain look, so I justified the extra cost in my head, but if you aren't after the look, you can find just as good of a product for half the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded expectations in form and function We purchased the fan for an outdoor pavilion to match two existing rod iron antique chandeliers with the extension rod to accommodate the ceiling height. The products arrived promptly, and were identical to the images online. The descriptions and ample information online made it easy to order exactly what we wanted and the result is a fixture that looks seamless and beautiful. We couldn't be more pleased, thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Service and Perfect Product Called YLighting with tons of questions about identifying the appropriate Modern Fans fan, and got a fantastic person who not only helped me with the decision but gave me valuable additional guidance. Everything went perfectly smoothly, got the fan in 5 days instead of the 3 weeks I was warned of. Had a professional electrician install as I have 23 ft. ceilings. All went smoothly and I adore the fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a great product! Great product and would give it 5 stars, except for 1- it isn't energy star certified, so it didn't qualify for a rebate from the utility (manufacturer says it is the same components as an energy star qualified fan, but isn't registered with EPA) 2- the 'maple' blades aren't wood, and don't really look like maple... more of a beech color. Satisfied, nonetheless.
