I really love the look and the price of this light. My electrician didn't like them much as he had to pound them into the ceiling box to get them to fit. Also, one C clamp was missing in the box as well.

We ordered this light to illuminate some artwork. The fixture mostly disappears in the ceiling which is exactly what we wanted. Based on the location of the artwork, we had to tilt the head to it's maximum. Doing that combined with the wide angle MR16 (60 degree beam spread) resulted in a slight shadow at the top. This would not be a problem with typical MR16's (38 degree beam spread).

<p>We have these installed in three rooms in our home. They are functional and attractive. If you need to place the lights further from the wall then approx. one foot, perhaps it is better to buy the elbow style that matches (#HR-D425) and allows more angling and control of the light on the wall. We discovered this to be the case in our most recent remodel.</p>

I have installed close to 50 of these trims to go along with the HR8401 housing.

Trouble free combination. Only minor complaint is with the snap ring that holds the lamp in place- it could be smaller and less visible.

We installed nine of these in our living room which had no overhead lighting. Using the white housing gave us a less intrusive look in the ceiling so we can wash the room in light without drawing too much attention to them when they are not in use. The ability to adjust the angle allows for some cool effects against the walls in certain places and to change the direction of the light when furniture gets moved. With 50W MR-16's in an 8' ceiling and a dimmer, we can go from slight glow during 'movie-watching' to an amount of light that room hasn't seen in 40 years.

Two advisements:

(1) the trim has spring-loaded clips and take a little coaxing to get far enough into the housing to fit tightly against the ceiling. It can be done, but is a bit of a pain. There is also a metal clip to hold the bulb (and optional lense) in place, which is not so obvious in the photos. As it turns out, it's not obvious in the ceiling, either, but it was a bit of a surprise.

(2) although adjustable to 30 degrees, if you adjust the angle of the lightbulb more than a few degrees, you will see light come through the bezel on the opposite side, which is a bit distracting. For ceiling installation where deep angles will be the norm rather than on occasion, I would recommend a trim with a thicker bezel or an internal baffle.

Overall, very happy with them - and the neighbors have commented as well after seeing them through the windows.

At first I wasn't sure I could justify spending the extra money on these recessed lights, but when they came in, I was impressed. My contractor tried to sell me on the ones at Home Depot that looked similar, but even he admitted that these are much more impressive and better quality than those sold elsewhere.
