    The Gusto Hugger incorporates a series of stepped transitions from the top and bottom to it's widest band at the center. Symmetry, balance, and continuity come to mind when describing this design. As with most Rezek designs, the Gusto is an investigation into the relationship of simple geometries. The result is a fan that is interesting but not distracting, unique but familiar.

    Gusto is made of die-cast aluminum and offered in either a gloss white powder coat or bright nickel plated finish. The blades are a plywood laminate with a gloss white coating or metallic aluminum paint, choose 56" or 46" blade span (overall diameter). The optional light kit provides ambient lighting in your choice of halogen or compact fluorescent lamping.

    The fan speed and the light can be operated by one of several control options. Note: Any control ordered with a fan that has been configured with an energy-saving CFL will be supplied in a non-dimming version.

    Ron Rezek designed the world's first contemporary-styled ceiling fan, the Stratos, in 1986. But his list of accomplishments in the design world is long and varied, from lifeguard equipment to contemporary lighting. In 1997, Ron started The Modern Fan Co. in Ashland, Oregon, which produces and sells only contemporary ceiling fans.

    His ceiling fans have been widely used in hotels, restaurants, retail and institutional applications, and all types of residential projects.

    "I don't think contemporary means a stark white room. I think it means a tasteful alignment of important elements. There are some designers who copy the Modernists who have come before. But I think 'contemporary' is the pursuit of the new." "People assume that all contemporary fixtures are more functional than traditional ones. That is because contemporary fixtures are easier to clean and they seem to be more utilitarian based on their appearance. And because of their simplicity and lack of ornamentation, they also have an alliance with the industrial look. But all of this doesn't necessarily translate into function.     This fan is stylish, quiet, and perfect

    Very satisfied with the quality and design and your price was great.

    Just installed the Gusto Hugger and I'm very happy with the design and smooth operation. Its a very quiet yet powerful fan and installation was much easier than I expected. I initially had an issue with the fan switch but Modern Fan sent me a new one right away without any questions. I would highly recommend this fan!

    Great fan once it is up, a little challenging to squeeze the remote receiver in the fan base while installing

    Fan looks great, works great, whisper quiet, and really met my expectations. In terms of installation, I faced some challenges as (1) the instructions are not very well written and defined, especially which screws and which, and (2) it's challenging (but obviously not impossible) to get the remote receiver into the fan base while squeezing in all the wires and trying to get the remove receiver antenna to peek out of the fan base.

    All in all, fantastic, just some hiccups with installation process.

    Customer Questions

    Q:  Is the remote wiring/receiver built into the fan, or does it require that a secondary unit be stuffed into the ceiling mount box?

    A:  The remote control receiver for Modern Fan Ceiling fans is placed in the ceiling support bracket of the fan, which is then covered by the canopy — it does not go in the actual junction box, so the receiver is below the ceiling.

    Q:  Can multiple fans be operated from one remote control?

    A:  For the Modern Fans- as long the fans are fan only and do not include light kits, multiple fans can be operated from one remote. Additional receivers will need to be ordered for each additional fan.
