Design by Ron Rezek. The Plum features softer, organic lines while still maintaining a clean modern appearance. Plum is made of die-cast aluminum and offered in either a gloss white powder coat or brushed aluminum finish. The blades are a plywood laminate with a gloss white coating or metallic aluminum paint, choose 52" or 42" blade span (overall diameter). The optional light kits provide ambient lighting in your choice of halogen or compact fluorescent lamping; the halogen offers two sizes of glass. The fan speed and the light can be operated by one of several control options. Note: Any control ordered with a fan that has been configured with an energy-saving CFL will be supplied in a non-dimming version. Includes 4", and 16" downrods for 12" or 24" overall height. Optional downrods are available for alternate heights. The Plum fan can accommodate a sloped ceiling up to 33°. For slopes over 33° but under 45°, use the sloped ceiling adaptor (sold separately).

I have always admired the design of the Modern Fan Company fans. Most ceiling fans are so clunky, big, ill-proportioned, and just—usually—ugly. Installation was simple and straight-forward, a standard installation. I am using the remote option since I live in a very old house with old, odd wiring. While I would like the blades to be a bit longer (I have the 52" version), the fan moves a decent amount of air. My one reservation about the fan is a disconcerting non-periodic clicking noise that developed on the higher speeds just a few days after installation (it has been working only about a week). I have emailed MFC and am hoping they have an easy explanation. It sounds like something is unbalanced, which I hope is not true for a new fan.
