Design by Ron Gilad, 2005. The Dear Ingo challenges preconceptions about every day objects. Composed from 16 individual task lamps, the whole creates a dynamic chandelier. The spots can be directed, and the shape of the chandelier can be changed; whether its crooked or the optimum balance is found is up to you. Created in homage to the famed German lighting designer. Dear Ingo is now part of the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. Notes: 960 Watt maximum wattage use. To lower wattage consumption lower wattage lamps can be used, as well as self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamps. If using a dimmer, please choose dimmable lamps. His designs are functional and minimalist to which he adds his humor, elegance and sophisticated wit. He likes to deconstruct the function of an object down to the basics. Frequently starting with a found object which is then reinterpreted into something else. Gilad taught 3D Design at the Shenkar Academy of Engineering and Design from 1999-2001, during which time he developed one-of-a-kind objects later exhibited at shows. He moved to New York in 2001 and co-founded Designfenzider from where he designs, produces and distributes his works around the world. He has also been teaching at the Pratt Institute in New York City since 2006. His works are part of the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Customer ReviewsDear Ingo: It's a statement We got this (black) Dear Ingo for a conference room. (12 pax walnut wooden table, sand leather Vitra chairs, hard wood floors, and a heavy velvet curtain). This chandelier makes a strong statement of the room. The mix of more sober colors and materials enhances the presence of the chandelier, making it the central piece in the space.
