After mentally trying on every interesting pendant light under $2000 for our living room, we finally took a leap and ordered this one. It's AMAZING!! Our ceilings are about 8.5" and the room is 12x13', so our fear was it might be too much, but we ordered the small and LOVE the shadows it casts upon the ceiling and walls. One word of caution, ours hangs about six inches from the ceiling and you see a circle cast in the shadow where the access hole to put the bulb in is. Quality is excellent - we installed it ourselves and will recommend you wear a long sleeve shirt and gloves if fiberglass irritates your skin - the globe is made of it. Enjoy, it's magical!!

I like the light but it was strange that the white light comes with a black wire! i called about it and the guy told me we have to get our electrician to change it for a white one.

This is an iconic fixture and believe me after viewing the "knockoffs" it is worth the price for the original. It is light and airy yet has a etheral quality that helps to ground a space. Warning they are bigger than you imagine and occupy a lot of space! Be sure to measure the circumference into the space you wish to hang it, the medium is quite large and I ended up returning it for the small.

I worked at dwell in my early twenties and coveted this lamp, but did not have the petty cash to spring for it, or the interest in maintaining it through many moves around San Francisco. I have literally wanted this light for years. My fiance and I just bought a shed-roof-style house with ceilings that are 15 feet at the apex. We sprayed the tongue-and-groove ceilings white like the walls. Although the house is modern, the ceiling has a nice Maine-cottage kind of feel. The lamps are perfect in that they are modern, but have an organic feel due to the random nature of the string spheres. They seem very versatile for different kinds of spaces.

We hung a small pair about 20 feet apart and they have a warm, wonderful glow that gives a candle-like atmosphere (the bottoms are about 9 feet off the floor). The shadows they cast at night are reminiscent of being inside a big nest-- perfect because we live on road called ____ Nest Drive and have been referring to the house as "The Nest!"

My only quibble with them is that the white has a slightly green cast to it-- almost like the tone of whites that glow in the dark. Also good to know: Be careful when handling, not to let the black cord rub against the shell too much. It will mar it-- some marks came off with Windex and a soft cloth, some did not. We used a G25 clear bulb and it looks great-- especially on a dimmer. There were no problems with packaging and the boxes arrived in less than a week. If you're thinking of splurging on these-- go for it. I've called it my "Lebowski purchase"-- it's really tied the room together.

Certainly pricey, but beautiful. We were worried that the exposed bulb would cause a problem with glare, but it hasn't been an issue...just don't use a clear bulb. I'd recommend a G25 globe-shaped bulb to match the surround, although you'll likely have to special order anything over 60W.

I've wanted this light fixture for years and finally had the opportunity to install it in my apartment. We bought the smallest size. Its big enough to make a statement but also is delicate so its not overwhelming even in a small space. It also can hold up to a 100W bulb which we've installed with a dimmer. I love it!

That is the most beautifull globe you can find for $500. Despite the other reviews concerning a price, i feel that Random is a very well made light fixture. I suggest experimenting with a diffrent bulbs and dimmer ( i ended up using a 60W small halogen spot)

The lamp was delivered on a very sturdy box on a pallet and was in perfect condition when I opened the box. Installing it was quite simple (I had a handy man replace the standard dining room fixture with it -- took him no more than 10 mins).

Floating above my dining table, this lamp has become the center of attention for anyone that walks into my home. Only problem is, everyone feels like they need to touch it!! It is definitely a beautiful piece -- even though it's huge (I got the medium size, which barely fit through the door!), it looks like it belongs in the environment and doesn't take away from the rest of the pieces in the room. I love my Random light!
