Looks great, but dirty

I'm pleased with the look of the Corks puff/coffee table. It is much darker than I expected, and that it looks in some pictures, but I'm growing to like it.

The biggest criticism I have is that it was VERY dirty. After opening the box and bubble rap, everything was covered in a fine black powder (I don't know if this is something to dye the cork darker? It looks like charcoal that was rubbed all over it). Whatever it is also made the instruction paper soggy.

It mentions you have to brush it with a cloth first, but it is so dirty I had to put it in the bath. Even then black powder was getting everywhere. I was too worried to scrub it hard as bits and pieces were coming off. I think some was lumps of whatever covered it that got into the natural holes you find in cork, but some was definitely parts of the stool itself.

I think bits have now stopped coming off it, but I've not had chance to use it in any way yet as its in the guest bedroom. If you don't mind cleaning it up (maybe mine was extra worse, as I don't expect the instructions should have been soggy!) then it is a nice little piece.
