And by the time you do, the last thing you want to think about are hallways, stairs, and foyers - but you should. Consider these areas the frame around the picture you paint in each living area. Tip #1: Wall lights & ceiling lights can make or break an entry hall.In an entry, you want a visitor's eye to take in the scope and scale of the space. Use lights that don't hang too far from the ceiling to help their eyes along. Wall lights with shades add a sophisticated touch.

Babette Holland Design is a husband-wife partnership in design and manufacturing. The lighting that comes out of their Brooklyn studio is nothing less than fantastic. These New American Modern pieces of art are inspired by Russell Wright’s aluminum production work.

These lamps, from the watercolor series, are made from handspun aluminum with shapes so complex they can only be made one piece at a time, by hand, and by a master spinner. The shades are cut from a rich pebble silk.
