We needed a large fixture that would make a statement and fill the space above our coffee table in the living room. It was tricky to find the right piece because the table is rectangular, and we wanted something that could hang low over it but not be bumped into with your head when you reach for an item standing on the table. This fixture turned out to be perfect: it is long enough to fill the room over the table, but its narrow side allows you to walk around the coffee table without any problem. We hanged it only about 3 ft above the table's surface, so we can look at this beautiful glowing sculpture when it is on without being blinded by the bulbs. I'm glad we got this one instead of a round drum fixture we considered. We would not be able to hang any large round or square piece so low. My only wish would be that it comes with some bottom diffuser so when it hangs higher you don't look at the bulbs when you sit. The light is distributed very nicely. The room just glows when it is on. We love to sit in the evening with this light on and talk. The quality doesn't disappoint either. Even the chrome base mounting to the ceiling is metal (not plastic made in china) and beautifully made, which often is overlooked. Another feature we were delighted with is the floating canopy: you can hang it offset relative to the ceiling box. This turned out priceless for us since the ceiling outlet is flush with the edge of the table and we wanted the fixture centered over it.
