I purchased these when transitioning my loft to a rental property and wanted to replace the vintage light fixtures I'd collected. I used six of these vanity lights in the main living space, entryway hallway, and at the top of a staircase. I was initially worried that they would look "vanity/bathroom" but they worked perfectly.

Overall, I'm very pleased - especially with the value - but I'm giving these four stars because it's going to be a little bit of a hassle to change the light bulbs later. I'd hoped that it would be as simple as plugging in a new bulb through the ends but it looks like it's going to require taking off the glass shade to replace burnt out bulbs.

If you use CFL lamps with this light I hope you have long slender fingers! If you have short fingers or large hands it is almost impossible to get a CFL lamp installed.

Many vanity fixtures with this glass diffuser configuration come with a tool to install a lock ring which holds the shade to the fixture base.The worst design and awkward since the glass shade is narrow and long. Not these. The Pebble Light shades have an attached interior metal threaded base that screw on to the fixture base. The way it should be. Quick and easy. I've been installing lighting fixtures for over 20 yrs. and this is very well made in both fit and finish. You will need two 60 watt T-lamp bulbs for this fixture. Not the standard looking light bulbs. You will also need to allow for enough space from the adjacent wall for light bulb and shade install. Typically the bulb is installed first and then the shade. With this method you'll need enough room to slide the shade over the tube-like T-lamp light bulb. Here is a trick if it is a tight space. Place the T- lamp inside the shade first and then hold the shade with the bulb in place. You then, while holding the shade by the fixture base, begin to thread the T-lamp bulb into the socket. Once tight, thread the shade to the fixture base.

The fixture seemed like a nice compromise between form/price. We needed a light that was mainly horizontal and could fit over the top of an upper bathroom cabinet. In addition, it was going to be the only light in the room, so it needed to be able to produce enough light to suffice without overwhelming. Since we strongly disliked fluorescent light, this incandescent provided a good range of wattage choices. It also had frosted valences which look good and help diffuse the light.

Being a first-time homeowner, money is not something I have a lot of (at least not anymore thanks to the new roof that had to be put on). That being the case, I still desired nicer bathroom lighting than the horrible options presented to me by the big box home improvement stores.

I found Ylighting on a link from Apartment Therapy and when I did a search for brush nickel vanity lights, this one came up. I was instantly drawn to its simple, clean appearance and when I saw the price I could hardly believe my eyes.
