Design by Fortuny, Kieffer and Rubelli.
Made in Italy by Pallucco.

This latest restyling of the Fortuny Floor Lamp is the result of a creative collaboration with Rubelli, where fabric shares the spotlight with the light itself. The lampshade is the work of fabric designer Dominique Kieffer and clearly shows the timelessness of Fortuny's work and how it can successfully be reinvented with understated but stunning elegance.

Fortuny Rubelli is offered in two styles: Gold Linen and Silk Plisse Shade or Bronze Metallic Linen and James Dean Fabric Shade. The Gold Linen option - linen being a favorite material of the French designer - is interwoven with radiant gold threads. The pleated taffeta used on the outside creates the impression of small waves of light and shadow. This effect is a nod at the silk pleating technique that was invented by Mariano Fortuny in 1909.

The Bronze Metallic Linen option features an outer "black dress" in James Dean fabric with a semi-shiny texture similar to raffia, matched with an interior in laminated linen with bronze threads. This maintains the reflected-light effect but at the same time surprises in its dark color, creating a rich and dynamic aura of illumination.

Fortuny Rubelli features a flat and tubular steel body in black epoxy powder lacquered finish. Offered with incandescent or LED lamping options. Includes dimmer on cord. Shown with Gold Linen and Silk Plisse Shade.

Mariano Fortuny Y Madrazo

In 1971, Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo was born in Granada, Spain. His early childhood was divided between Rome, where his father had a studio and Capricio near Naples. After his father's death in 1874, his family left for Paris to join their uncle. His father and grandfather were both celebrated artists. Mariano inherited artistic skills and also worked in printing, drawing and chemistry.

Mariano studied painting until the age of 18, and was then introduced to Parisian society. After a while, his mother moved the family to Venice. He bought a palazzo and turned it into an enormous studio. Mariano produced both easel paintings, frescoes, sculptures and prints. In 1897, he was awarded the gold medal at the Munich International Festival of Art for his painting The Flower Girls. He exhibited his paintings every year at the Venice Biennale until his death.
