Born in Ottowa, Ontario, Michel Devernet has spent most of his adult life in the mountains of western Canada. Michel received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ottowa. In addition to his heli-ski guiding career, he has joined together with Marcin Padlewski and Anissa Szeto to create theBakery design group. Designing out of his home and barn-turned-studio near Nelson, British Colombia, despite its challenges, helps him accent his creative process by removing himself from an urban environment.See other lights/products from Michel Devernet
Marcin Padlewski was born in Gdansk, Poland in 1972. In the early 1980's he immigrated through France to Ottawa, Canada. Coming from a family with four generations of architects, filmmakers, and musicians, his family was a powerful source of creative influence and helped fuel his own desire to graduate from architecture from the School of Architecture at Carleton University. During this time, he met Anissa Szeto where, after graduating, established the multi-disciplinary studio/workshop Bakerygroup. Michel Deverant joined them and together they have taken on a wide range of products, from lighting design and tent structures to conceptual installations. Much of their work has been featured in both Canadian and international exhibits, with many presentations centering around the ideas of shelter. Recently, after moving to the countryside, they established a new workshop base and began a personal experiement in alternative living, where the great outdoors has become a natural extension of their studio.See other lights/products from Marcin Padlewski
Born in Hong Kong in 1975, Annisa Szeto moved to Toronto, Ontario at the age of nine with her family. Growing up in a family of accountants, Anissa discovered her creative side and found inspiration in art and photography. Fulfilling her family's wish for her to obtain a degree, yet desiring to be independent, she moved to Ottawa, Ontario and entered the School of Architecture at Carleton University. It was during this time that she met Marcin Padlewski. After graduating in 1999, the husband and wife team established their studio, Bakerygroup, along with third partner Michel Devernet. The group takes on a wide grange of projects and collaborations but the main focus is on lighting and tents. Recently, after moving to the countryside, they established a new workshop base and began a personal experiement in alternative living, where the great outdoors has become a natural extension of their studio.See other lights/products from Anissa Szeto
