This is very unique and high quality lamp that makes a simplistic statment. I use it on the bedside and it's flexibility and two light levels is perfect. I think the base probably weighs 10 lb...it's not going anywhere. It did take a few weeks to arrive, but it looks like they're made to order. I have the polished nickel one and I like the mfg instructions to clean with a dry cloth only with no chemicals. I think this lamp will last longer than I will.

Since I have clients around it all the time I removed the cord, covered the portion between the top of the lamp housing and the arm in a woven charcoal fabric sleeve and then rethreaded the cord.

Otherwise a great lamp. The inner reflective shield throws a good soft light on low, but when turned up enough good even field to review plans, draw, or read under for hours.

I have one on my plan table in my studio. It's the light I leave on at night when I leave the room. A testament to the soft directed light it throws, that when I'm not there it's what I want people passing to see lighting my studio.

...and, from the solidity, and simplicity of the manufacture, I feel sure it'll last forever. I'm a professional writer, I live and work at my desk, and over the past twenty five or so years I've gone through many supposedly well-made table lamps. Not only is the Dave Table Lamp a lovely object in and of itself, but it has a heft to that makes you sure it's the kind of furniture that will outlast its owner.

materials and construction are high quality. the desk lamp was so heavy, i could barely get it out of the box, which to me was a good sign. most products now a days, are flimsy and poorly constructed. its refreshing to find a company who not only represents the finest in high design product, but pays mind to detail and craftsmanship.

Downside? Leadtime. But ultimately, worth waiting for.
