This lamp is very good quality...with one notable exception. The shade is a cheesy STARK white see through styrofoam-like material that makes it look CHEAP. We ended up returning it....and it cost 75 bucks to send it back plus YLighting charged us back for the "free shipping" . Never again....we were NOT IMPRESSED with the customer service.

I bought 2 of these lamps for either side of my guest room bed, and I searched for lamps that would be tall enough and that could carry a high enough watt bulb. Nothing frustrates me more than trying to read in bed under a low lamp. I bought the white base/white shade combo, and with 100 watt bulbs these throw A LOT of light. The shade is very translucent, so it really lights up the room. . . maybe too much. But they definitely met my criteria and I am happy with them. I left off one star because the workmanship is just a little less than perfect, circles not glued on EXACTLY in the center, etc. Overall, I would recommend these lamps.
