Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler found his calling the day he tried pottery in summer camp. He begged his parents for a wheel and a kiln and subsequently spent his adolescence in the basement of his family's modern home throwing pots. He allegedly went to Brown to study semiotics and art history, but actually spent all his time at RISD making pots. He moves to New York and after trying the movie business for a few years he returns to his calling and sells his first and pivotal order to Barneys New York. Now Jonathan Adler's eponymous company has grown to become an internationally recognized lifestyle and home furnishings brand offering tabletop, bedding, bath accessories, furniture, rugs, pillows and lighting. Pairing modernist forms with bold colors and groovy graphics. The company's motto, "If your heirs won't fight over it, we won't make it", reflects Jonathan's commitment to impeccable craftsmanship and panache.

A potter by trade, Jonathan Adler started his own line of pottery in 1994 after Barney's took an interest in his designs and placed an order. After three busy years of fulfilling orders, Jonathan Adler connected with Aid to Artisans, a program created to help artisans in developing countries make product for the American market. Jonathan Adler established his own workshop in Peru, increasing productivity without sacrificing quality and enabling the Jonathan Adler brand to grow.

In 1998, the first Jonathan Adler store opened in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. Three years later, Jonathan Adler went bi-coastal and opened a shop in Los Angeles. The Jonathan Adler brand continued to expand, adding a line of furniture, bedding, towels, and stationary.

Inspired by his love for color and keen eye for design, Jonathan Adler began taking on interior design projects in 2002. Some notable Jonathan Adler design projects include The Parker Palm Springs Hotel and a real life Malibu Dream House in honor of Barbie's 50th Anniversary.

With fourteen stores across the United States, and a well-rounded collection of pottery, textiles, furniture, and unique home accessories, Jonathan Adler has become a well-known name in the design world.

Beautiful, very elegant fixture

I'm very happy with this product, I bought two for a hallway. It's very elegant and expensive looking. Great quality. The only downside is that what other buyers already noticed. In order to change the lightbulb you need to dismantle the fixture again.
The fixture was securely packed and arrived without problems.

Excellent light for stylish home

Ylighting shipped the light very fast to our company. Excellent service and well packed. This Jonathan Adler flush mount light is absolutely stunning! The construction is solid with a beautiful metal finish is what makes this light spectacular.

This is a very nice looking light, and the exterior metal pattern gives such a nice modern appearance. Takes 3 bulbs, with a maximum of 75W each. I used 60W initially, but I suggest using the full 75W. This is not a one person installation due to the need for someone to hold the light up while another fixes it into place. But it was easy to install. We put this in a child's bedrooom, and will get another one for the second bedroom. I would recommend this light.

It's absolutely perfect! I will be purchasing 2 more for the upstairs. Installation wasn't bad at all as long as you followed the directions and had a helper. It's bigger then I expected, but it's absolutely lovely.

Great value!

This is a lovely light fixture. It's contemporary styling was perfect for my project. It is elegant and looks hi-end but is very reasonable priced! It was perfectly within budget and my client loved it! I am very happy with this find.

Looks great in ranch-style home

Needs two persons, or electrician, to install, but otherwise looks great and is well made. Might be difficult to change out bulbs whenever they burn out.

Very attractive design, blending well with period pieces and contemporary.

I have not yet mounted this fixture as it is going in my second home and I will not be there for another two weeks.

Artistic, simple art-deco style lighting.

I love the simplicity of this piece, and it draws to mind 1950-like stlyings. The metal on the nickel is highly polished. Very chic yet understated.

great fixture with classic mid-century lines at a very good price-point

purchased along with the half-round wall sconce. they look great together but beware that this fixture is BIG. it wants higher ceilings and a bigger space than we intended it for.

Pain to mount & maintain

First problem: badly packaged so glass arrived completely shattered. Box didn't have any indication it should be handled with care/fragile/glass etc. Getting replacement shade took 2 weeks and everyone from Ylighting to Robert Abbey (manufacturer in N Carolina) dropped the ball on it; only got anything because I hounded everyone. Mounting instructions provided were more complicated than necessary, and mounting is a 2 person job as glass shade is heavy and one needs to be precise in order to get the tiny holes to match up. Bear in mind, the entire shade and outer trim has to be removed as well in order to change the bulbs later on.

Elegant style for mid-century or contemporary spaces

Soft, ambient light through the frosted glass shade is complemented by the touch of shine from the patterned metal outer shade. A great looking fixture for small to medium scale rooms

Beautiful light with a classy modern flair

My architect recommended this light for our family room. It reminds of palm springs. It is in a room in our front entry and sets a progressive yet classic tome. The light is well made and was installed by an electrician.

This light really completes my apartment. Great complement for the modern look. Perfect amount of light for the small entryway. I am strongly considering purchasing another one for my dressing area.

Great style and well made.

Really happy with this fixture. I expected to have to wait for it to arrive, but instead received it within days of placing my order. It was very well packaged and arrived damage-free. Looks and feels substantial and not at all cheap. Adds a lot of interest to the otherwise boring entry of my 1950s ranch.

Very attractive and simple ceiling fixture for the entryway

The ornamental metal outer layer is very fragile....ours is bent just from taking it carefully out of the box. It is pretty but the durability seems pretty lacking.
