Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler found his calling the day he tried pottery in summer camp. He begged his parents for a wheel and a kiln and subsequently spent his adolescence in the basement of his family's modern home throwing pots. He allegedly went to Brown to study semiotics and art history, but actually spent all his time at RISD making pots. He moves to New York and after trying the movie business for a few years he returns to his calling and sells his first and pivotal order to Barneys New York. Now Jonathan Adler's eponymous company has grown to become an internationally recognized lifestyle and home furnishings brand offering tabletop, bedding, bath accessories, furniture, rugs, pillows and lighting. Pairing modernist forms with bold colors and groovy graphics. The company's motto, "If your heirs won't fight over it, we won't make it", reflects Jonathan's commitment to impeccable craftsmanship and panache.

A potter by trade, Jonathan Adler started his own line of pottery in 1994 after Barney's took an interest in his designs and placed an order. After three busy years of fulfilling orders, Jonathan Adler connected with Aid to Artisans, a program created to help artisans in developing countries make product for the American market. Jonathan Adler established his own workshop in Peru, increasing productivity without sacrificing quality and enabling the Jonathan Adler brand to grow.

In 1998, the first Jonathan Adler store opened in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. Three years later, Jonathan Adler went bi-coastal and opened a shop in Los Angeles. The Jonathan Adler brand continued to expand, adding a line of furniture, bedding, towels, and stationary.

Inspired by his love for color and keen eye for design, Jonathan Adler began taking on interior design projects in 2002. Some notable Jonathan Adler design projects include The Parker Palm Springs Hotel and a real life Malibu Dream House in honor of Barbie's 50th Anniversary.

With fourteen stores across the United States, and a well-rounded collection of pottery, textiles, furniture, and unique home accessories, Jonathan Adler has become a well-known name in the design world.

Wonderful light that fits the bill if you're looking for a great reading/desk light

This works really well as a swing lamp between a bed and an adjacent desk. Easy to install, great look.

Full of Retro-gorgeousness.

We searched and searched for a bedside wall sconce with some flair, and when we found these we knew we had scored. They are well made, sturdy and quite attractive in our mid-century setting.

Great, adjustable bedside reading lamp!

Super pleased with the quality of these lamps. We installed them "pin-up" style and the cord cover is attractive. The squiggly fluorescent bulb that comes with it hangs down below the decorative cut outs so I'm going to get a low profile bulb. Plus it seems as though it would work with a two way bulb as there are two "on' clicks on the switch.

Very Well Crafted

This is an outstanding value, with workmanship comparable to far more expensive sconces. In form and function outstanding!

A Great Bedroom Addition.

These swing-arm sconces are attractive, smooth-functioning and well made. I installed them in our children's rooms and everyone raves about them.

These lights are so stylish and functional!

I love the designs of these lights and how they function.
I have looked for a long time for lights next to our bed and these are perfect.
They are easy to manipulated for direct light and add a fun style to our bedroom.

Worst Lamp EVER - Simply JUNK

We purchased a pair of these lamps for our master bedroom and have to say that the quality of construction is terrible. We have had to replace the lamps three (yes, THREE) times because the interior wiring shorted out (tangled, exposed wires) and the FOURTH(!) lamp simply snapped at the connection junction leaving the arm dangling from the interior wire. Needless to say I am done with fixtures made from this company.
Also, I need to mention that the switch at the top of the fixture fell off each and every one of the four lamps that we installed.

Terrible Quality

We bought a pair of these for our master bedroom and have had nothing but trouble. We have replaced them FOUR (yes, 4!) times because of wiring issues within the lamps (three), and the arm of the fourth lamp snapped off the ball joint. Also the switch knob at the top of the lamp fell off of 3 of the four. Truly disappointed in these.

Great swing arm light for over a desk!

We're very happy with the sconce it was very well made which is important to me and it looks great in the space. We bought two of these lights and the swing arm one was my favorite. It was a bit if work to remove the power cord and set up the light for direct wiring though. It'd be nice to select one or the other and have the light shipped ready for your install.

Great Looking Fixture

The fixture arrived more quickly than expected and looks great. For installation I would make a couple of warnings 1.) Wall anchors are not included and definitely necessary unless you happen to hit a stud--the heavier duty the better. 2.) When screwing the fixture to the wall plate there are three screws. Start the second and third screws before tightening the first screw all the way and then tighten each evenly a couple of turns at a time.
My only complaint is that I wish the light arm had a great range of motion and could go higher. Other than that I think it is great looking, good weight, and well done finishing.
