Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler found his calling the day he tried pottery in summer camp. He begged his parents for a wheel and a kiln and subsequently spent his adolescence in the basement of his family's modern home throwing pots. He allegedly went to Brown to study semiotics and art history, but actually spent all his time at RISD making pots. He moves to New York and after trying the movie business for a few years he returns to his calling and sells his first and pivotal order to Barneys New York. Now Jonathan Adler's eponymous company has grown to become an internationally recognized lifestyle and home furnishings brand offering tabletop, bedding, bath accessories, furniture, rugs, pillows and lighting. Pairing modernist forms with bold colors and groovy graphics. The company's motto, "If your heirs won't fight over it, we won't make it", reflects Jonathan's commitment to impeccable craftsmanship and panache.

A potter by trade, Jonathan Adler started his own line of pottery in 1994 after Barney's took an interest in his designs and placed an order. After three busy years of fulfilling orders, Jonathan Adler connected with Aid to Artisans, a program created to help artisans in developing countries make product for the American market. Jonathan Adler established his own workshop in Peru, increasing productivity without sacrificing quality and enabling the Jonathan Adler brand to grow.

In 1998, the first Jonathan Adler store opened in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. Three years later, Jonathan Adler went bi-coastal and opened a shop in Los Angeles. The Jonathan Adler brand continued to expand, adding a line of furniture, bedding, towels, and stationary.

Inspired by his love for color and keen eye for design, Jonathan Adler began taking on interior design projects in 2002. Some notable Jonathan Adler design projects include The Parker Palm Springs Hotel and a real life Malibu Dream House in honor of Barbie's 50th Anniversary.

With fourteen stores across the United States, and a well-rounded collection of pottery, textiles, furniture, and unique home accessories, Jonathan Adler has become a well-known name in the design world.

Wonderful sconces that ad a great 50's flair to any decor

I love the styling of Jonathan Adler lighting. The sconces I purchased look fantastic in the room in which they are installed (a bedroom). The versatility of the two settings is also great. The necks on the lights move providng multidirctional lighting. Highly rceommend them

Just what we needed!

Great match for double sconce and carries the blend of modern/traditional into our bedroom. Wish it had a full dimmer rather than the high/low switch but, that is a small complaint. Overall, very happy!

Looks great in my bathroom

I love this sconce. I am using it over the vanity mirror in my bathroom and it looks great. It came with clear installation instructions and was easy to mount. I particularly like the swivel head and the options for having a brighter or dimmer light.

Very cool

The sconces are a clean, modern/retro design. They look great with our updated mid-century-inspired room decor. We bought them in white. Installation was no problem, and they are easily adjustable. Worth the price.

Bought these in white to complement our updated mid-century modern room decor. We have two pair, in opposite corners of the room. They look wonderful, a very clean look yet the cut-outs make them a bit different and interesting. A good buy.

Beautiful Quality

I am impressed with the quality of this light. I was half expecting something lightweight and flimsy, but this is super-nice! Glad I got this-- a great price! It feels very substantial and I am pleasantly surprised that it has a 3 way switch. I'm using this as a spot over my kitchen sink because it looks period (with a modern twist) to our 1960 ranch. Awesome! Thanks YLighting!!

Great looking when new. Yellowed within months.

Love the look of this lamp but with a 60w bulb and minimal usage over 5 months it has already noticeably turned yellow on the main cone.

clean and modern

This is a very clean, simple and modern product. I was glad Ylighting had it because Jonathan Adler actually didn't offer it. We installed two at our bed side and so far so good! Also Ylighting was a nice vendor to work with!
