Gonzalo Mila was born in 1967 and studied architecture in Barcelona. In 1999, Mila joined the Urban Division of Santa & Cole, where he was responsible for several products. In 2001, he decided to go out on his own in order to pursue his true passion: furniture design.
Mila has created many urban elements that currently bring life to many Spanish streets, and his work has been acknowledged with various industrial design awards. In his own words, Mila seeks to design the "little things that surprise every day without gratuitousness, starting from new technologies or from applying traditional technologies to new concepts."See other lights/products from Gonzalo Mila
Born in Barcelona in 1931, Miguel Mila began his professional practice in 1950 in the architecture firm of his brother Alfonso Mila and Federico Correa. Eight years later, he created his own design studio and since then he has based his career in Catalan and Spanish design. He has followed Bauhaus' rationalism, though he has based his aesthetics of his objects in the simplification of shapes and elements, in search for maximum functionality. His work has been the subject of several design shows and he has received several design awards for his work.See other lights/products from Miguel Mila
Santa & Cole
Since the late 1980's, Santa & Cole has lived for industrial design, an art consisting of focusing on everyday objects in order to seek a better use experience, thereby leading them to reflect upon material culture. Hence, Santa & Cole edit elements of domestic and urban furniture and lighting, plant elements (which are living matter) and books (which are likewise alive). A range that is only apparently disperse, converging upon a single concern: not to accumulate, but rather to select; not to enjoy quantity, but rather quality.
