Design by Miguel Milá, 2005.
Made in Barcelona, Spain by Santa & Cole.
The TMD Floor Lamp is the metal version of the famous TMM Floor Lamp, which features an elegant circular base and shaft to create greater lightness.
The drum-shaped shade moves over a vertical axis, and hides the light source. The shade projects the light downward, for reading or working, or upwards for general effect. The shaft has two sections, the lower half is square and connected to the cross-shaped foot, and the upper half is cylindrical to allow the shade to move freely. The height of the shade can be adjusted by means of a rubber slide. There is no switch: the lamp is turned on and off with a gentle flick of a black cotton cord. The TMD Floor Lamp is composed of a satin nickel body with a height adjustable white linen lampshade.

Born in Barcelona in 1931, Miguel Mila began his professional practice in 1950 in the architecture firm of his brother Alfonso Mila and Federico Correa. Eight years later, he created his own design studio and since then he has based his career in Catalan and Spanish design. He has followed Bauhaus' rationalism, though he has based his aesthetics of his objects in the simplification of shapes and elements, in search for maximum functionality. His work has been the subject of several design shows and he has received several design awards for his work.See other lights/products from Miguel Mila
Santa & Cole
Since the late 1980's, Santa & Cole has lived for industrial design, an art consisting of focusing on everyday objects in order to seek a better use experience, thereby leading them to reflect upon material culture. Hence, Santa & Cole edit elements of domestic and urban furniture and lighting, plant elements (which are living matter) and books (which are likewise alive). A range that is only apparently disperse, converging upon a single concern: not to accumulate, but rather to select; not to enjoy quantity, but rather quality.
