Slamp
Wit, whimsy and warmth abound in the world of Slamp, an Italian lighting company founded in 1994 by former fashion show designer Robert Ziliani. From the beginning, Slamp has been mixing up a veritable cocktail of contemporary, high-concept aesthetics spiked with a cheeky attitude, and creating sophisticated, contemporary lighting with a playful ambiance.
Early variations of the company’s first design, the Slamp Tube, a standing lamp with a silk-screened shade, featured Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. The Disney collaboration bought further recognition to Slamp, and the company quickly attained further recognition for its hand-craftsmanship and quality materials.
In addition to fine leather, rare woods, Swarovski® crystals, steel and anodized brass, Slamp employs unusual, flexible materials. The most notable is Opalflex®, a recyclable material used for making Slamp lamps. Luminous, opalescent and as attractive as glass, versatile and unbreakable as plastic, it is patented and produced exclusively for Slamp. Opalflex® is a totally original mix of polymers and particular additives with unique properties for the emanation of light. The gradation of the colours, which is also brought about by serigraphic means, renders the lamps into luminous presences which create a specifically unmistakable atmosphere. Related materials include the clear-glass brightness of Cristalflex®, the mirror reflection of Steelflex® and the prismatic effect of Lentiflex®.
Each Slamp design transcends functionality, suffusing residential and commercial spaces with a sense of wonderment.
