I bought this lamp to go next to a chair that sat in the middle of the room, so I wanted something low profile that still looked cool. The Perch Lamp fit the bill. I got it in white.
I put it together with a little help from my husband due to the heaviness of the base, but that heaviness is for stability so I can't mark it down for that. Otherwise, it would tip over.
Got it put together - about 15 minutes - and snapped in the little bulb (yes, you have to apply a little pressure, and no, it didn't break) and screwed on the little glass shield over the bulb (I thought I'd lost the little screw, but I found it screwed into the lamp so you just unscrew it, put the glass in place, and screw it back in, no big deal at all).
Husband - who had no input into this purchase, just waved his hand and said "whatever" whenever I tried to include him in the decision - proceeded to admire it all afternoon and into the next day. We are both very impressed with the design, the way the light hinges in two places for maximum versatility. The switch is a button on the back of the lamp head, not something awkward at knee height or on the floor. Two different levels of brightness, depending on how much you need. It looks very good. The saucer section of the Starship Enterprise comes to mind. The quality is terrific, and it was not terribly expensive as these things go.
So are we happy with the Perch lamp? Very!

This floor/task lamp is exactly what I wanted for my new apartment(second home). It provides task lighting for my desk or sofa with a smooth adjustment. I got the white finish and it's beautiful accent without being intrusive. It was simple to put together and I'm thinking about ordering several more for my home and office.
