Design by Tom Dixon.

The Copper Shade highlights the dynamic and flexible properties of using copper. Pure copper is used as a vacuum metallised film, only microns thick, on the interior of each sphere, creating an enriched and softened light source.

The Copper Shade brings a sculptural sophistication to any interior, either alone or grouped as a dramatic chandelier cluster. Clear cord with black ceiling canopy.

Dimensions: 17.7"D; 98" of clear cable

Lamp Type: INCANDESCENT

Bulbs: 1 X 60W 120V medium base G30 globe lamp (included).

Tom Dixon

Born in Sfax, Tunisia in 1959, to a French/Latvian mother and an English father, Tom Dixon moved to England aged four and spent his school years in London. He dropped out of Chelsea School of Art to play bass in the band Funkapolitan before teaching himself welding and going on to produce furniture.

Tom rose to prominence in the mid 1980's as "the talented untrained designer with a line in welded salvage furniture". He set up 'Space' as a creative think-tank and shop front for himself and other young designers. By the late 1980's, Tom Dixon's international reputation grew, he was approached by Italian furniture design company, Cappellini, for whom he desinged the Iconic "S" chair. In the 1990's, he became a household name and Jack, his polypropylene "sitting, stacking, lighting thing" designed for his own company Eurolounge was a symbol of the age.

Tom Dixon's appointment as Head of the UK design studio at the furniture retailer Habitat in 1998 was considered controversial. He came from a self-employed background instead of a corporate culture and was never considered "establishment". Tom Dixon led the company through its biggest makeover and quickly won recognition by becoming Head of International Design in 1999 and Creative Director in 2001. He was the public face of a collective team responsible for rejuvenating the Habitat brand, while maintaining Terence Conran's dream of enriching everyday life through simple, modern design and creating a shopping experience that is theatrical and intimate.

In 2000, Tom's work was recognized by the award of an OBE by Her Majesty The Queen. His works have also been acquired by the world's most famous museums and are now in permanent collections across the globe including Victoria and Albert Museum, Museums of Modern Art New York and Tokyo and Centre Beaubourg (Pompidou).

"Honestly, I can't remember ever holding an ambition to be a designer. It just slowly came over me as I rejected notions of being an artist or, a craftsman. Even today I prefer the idea of being an industrialist."- Tom Dixon.

Best Price we could find for my client!

Y-Lighting's prices are even better than the trade discount I could get for my client. It was also better to purchase these from Y, as if I was sourcing them directly they'd be wired for the UK. Speedy delivery, great service, amazing, authentic product. As usual!

Beautiful to look at but not enough light

It's a beautiful light, modern and chic. Very nice during the day. But when turned on during evening/night, it does not give much light at all, it does not
have the WOW effect I expected. Perhaps I need a brighter light bulb?

Beautiful centerpiece

We're extremely happy we chose this product. We have a single pendant over our dining table, and for something so simple it makes quite an impact. It's bigger than it looks in most photos, so I'd recommend looking at one in person first, especially if you plan on putting it in a smaller space.

Quality and finish is flawless, and the polycarbonate construction makes it an inexpensive way to make a big statement. Great value for money.

Satisfied

We love the look and design of the product. The only disappointments were the condition of the pendant and lack of instructions for installation. When we were trying to resolve a issue with the way it was hung there was a lack of knowledge of the product from the customer service representative.

Finally got them

Ordered these lamps a year ago from a store and they were so defective that i had to send them back. I like these lamps so much that i decided to try ordering them online for another store. This was a disaster. So i gave up.
After a year i decided to look for an alternative
This time i decided to try this website and i could have not been any easier. The lamps definitely improved the quality (however, there are still some slight defects)
Will continue using this website for my remodeling needs

Great aesthetic, slightly higher price than value.

The pendant itself is beautiful and the hardware is easy to install. The bulb came broken but that was ok. We expected the pendant to be mostly metallic but the exterior and interior are a thick plastic which means it will never rust. I would buy again even though the price is a bit high. You are paying for the design not materials with this one.

poorly made

Despite having this installed by professionals (we were doing a remodel), it was impossible for this light to hang straight and level, no matter how it was adjusted. We thought perhaps we just got a dud so we asked for a replacement. But the issue is the same with the second. At this point, I cannot be bothered to deal with replacing it, so we'll live with it. I do like the way it looks (despite being crooked), but I was surprised how cheap the material seems. If you handle it too much (like trying to get it to hang straight), you risk rubbing off parts of the copper finish. Ours is freckled with little pinholes of light. Also, no joke this light gives off the most minimal light you can imagine. That's not part of why I gave it a bad review, but you should know - it is quite dim..
