TECH Lighting

TECH Lighting is the brand of choice for architects, lighting designers, interior designers and design-savvy homeowners who seek the best in premier lighting. Uncompromised quality combined with leading innovation set TECH Lighting apart, earning the company numerous rewards and recognition in the industry.

TECH Lighting has won the LIGHTFAIR® (LFI®) Design Excellence Award (this is LFI's highest award and one of the most prestigious in the industry) an unprecedented three times in 1999, 2003 and 2011. More recently, TECH has also won a LIGHTFAIR "Best in Category" Award, several Product Innovation Awards (PIAs) from Architectural Products and Architectural SSL magazines and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) & Hospitality Design magazine's Award of Excellence.

"Our aim is to create products with a perfect balance of performance and design through our brand mandate of innovative thoughtful design, a deep appreciation for light performance, uncompromising quality, plus a robust passion for detail," said TECH Lighting CEO Josh Weiss.

Originally known as the industry leader in low-voltage rail systems and contemporary decorative fixtures, the TECH Lighting brand has successfully expanded well beyond its roots, dating back to 1988. Known for sophisticated, modern designs combined with the latest advancements in lighting technology and expert craftsmanship, the brand offers a wide variety of product categories for both residential and commercial spaces such as specification-grade downlights, low-voltage and line-voltage heads and pendants, wall sconces, ceiling fixtures, flush mounts, suspension pieces, bath bars, and LED under-cabinet, display and cove lighting with its Unilume line.

As the lighting industry goes through a complete transformation made possible by LED technology, TECH Lighting embraces the change while striving to be an innovation leader in every facet of the business. The company also inspects every piece of glass for its fixtures and rejects 15 to 20 percent for even minor defects. All rejected glass is donated to a local manufacturer who recycles it to use in counter tops.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware For the price of over $1,000, a simple pendant light should be close to perfection. This one is far from it. That is unfortunate, because the design concept is excellent. Here is what you need to know before purchasing this fixture: 1) Most importantly, the fixture is designed so the bulb cannot be replaced. If it ever blows, the manufacturer expects you to buy an entirely new fixture! Who designs a light fixture with a bulb that can't be replaced? Unbelievable, but true. Mine blew when the electrician was installing it (his error); 2) The fixture is designed to never be opened. So, after your bulb blows, you have to "McGiver" the fastener heads to unscrew them (a close-up photo on YLighting shows Phillips head screws -- not true); 3) The fixture uses a proprietary 45" LED bulb, i.e., not a standard length. So, you'll have to cut a standard 48" LED bulb to replace it; 4) The mounting apparatus is designed only for connecting to an electrical box directly above the center of the fixture. If that is not available, you'll have to figure out another way to wire the thing up. I drilled thru the side of the cover box. Using a pre-stamped punch-out would have been a lot easier; 5) Regarding aesthetic issues: The metals of the ceiling mounting plate and the fixture itself are entirely different -- the mounting plate is a nice, brushed stainless steel. The fixture itself is a rather cheap-looking aluminum. This dichotomy simply looks bad. My fixture also arrived from the factory with a little pock-mark right in the center of one of the long sides; 6) There are no fittings for the end plates on the fixure -- they just abut the fixture -- and the end plates on my fixture are not perfectly straight. So, light escapes thru small cracks between the end plate and the main body of the fixture (I "fixed" that by applying grey caulk in the cracks); 7) On a positive note, the clutch cable system looks and works great. In summation, Tech Lighting started with a great design idea, but failed in the engineering of this fixture. I'd like to see them go back to the drawing board and address the issues listed above ... and replace my fixture.

Hi, can you please tell me the difference b/w 120v v's 270v on the Knox Line Voltage Linear Suspension Light Price: $1,160.00? What difference does it make to the light? This is for a office over a reception desk. Thank you

Asked by: Simone Anderson
Thanks for your interest in this fixture. 120V refers to the standard US outlet voltage that is used primarily for residential purposes, whereas a higher voltage of 277V is customary for US commercial applications where the fixture will be on for longer periods of time and will usually require more power. As far as light output and brightness, both versions will be identical with one 40W LED strip, 3500 lumens, and a 3000K color temperature. Does the fixture shine up as well as down?

Asked by: abbacoz
Hi there. This fixture is a down light only, meaning it provides direct and not diffused illumination. Please let us know if we can offer any additional clarification beyond this - we are happy to help! Parin YLighting Customer Service

Is the review true that you cannot change the bulb?

Asked by: Jordan12
Hi there! The bulbs cannot be changed because The Knox Line Voltage Linear Suspension Light has an integrated 40W 120V/277V LED strip. The LED modules are rated for 35,000 hours of life at 3500 lumens, after which they are rated to still work at a decreased rate of 90%-70% less of the original lumen output. 35,000 hours comes to about 15 years of peak performance at average use with continued use after that. And 70% of 3500 is still very bright at 2450 lumen output. These lamps are built to last and should not need the lights to be changed any time soon. Feel free to give us a call anytime at 866.842.6209 to discuss this fixture in greater depth, or to follow up with anything else. Thanks for reaching out! Stephanie, YLighting Customer Service
