My wife and I ordered two of these wall sconces for our stair way to a basement family room during recent renovations to our Nantucket home. They worked out very well in providing great lighting at a lower level next to the stairs at two locations on the stairway. We were after a somewhat contemporary look and a sturdy fixture which might get the occasional bump. Well constructed , a good choice for our project.

This light is well-designed and well made. The main shade body is a heavy genuine glass. The shade is removed by unscrewing the whole thing from the base. The light does not come with a bulb. For my application which involved adding some colored filter gels, even a 40W halogen was too hot. However, the base is conducive to replacing the 120V fixture with an LED socket and bulb.

I got this light for a bathroom (dry area) to accompany a Scotch light I bought for inside a shower. This dry area light (with a halogen bulb) can be on a dimmer switch; the wet area light (with a flourescent bulb) cannot. Each gives off a different quality of light but they look OK together in the same room. It was worth it to me to have a dimmer switch on the one outside the shower even though they give off different light. Note that the dry area light does not come with a bulb, but it takes a standard halogen bulb. The wet area light comes with a flourescent bulb that I have read is hard to locate if you ever have to buy another one (which I understand is not likely, as they last for many many years). And they can be bought separately from Ylighting. I really like both lights -- beautiful and sturdy.
