Designed by couple and creative partners Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak of SkLO, the Balance Pendant Light underlines the equilibrium between Gilbert’s sculptural visual language and Pavlak’s architectural sense of refinement. With a background as a craft artist and metalsmith, Gilbert brings out the true character of the glass and metal material through a beautiful formal composition. Czech glassblowers realize Gilbert’s vision with a centuries-old tradition of glass making. The blown and hand-shaped globes are fire-polished at the break where the blowing pipe separates from the glass for an artful detail. Connecting the globes, a horizontal and downward arching brass stem creates an expressive contour that emphasizes SkLo’s goal of expressing their design’s handmade nature. The horizontal and downward-facing position of the lamps produces a depth-filled ambient glow, ideal on its own or as a dynamic series.

SkLO, the Czech word for glass, draws inspiration from clean architectural lines and simple forms, Their unique pendants and chandeliers are crafted by glass masters in the Czech Republic and fuse the age-old tradition with modern functionality.
