The Blown Table Lamp from &Tradition is a study on the optics of reflections, distortions, and refractions, made using a blend of old-world techniques and cutting-edge technology. Designer Samuel Wilkinson approaches his designs with a love for materials. The Blown Table Lamp began with the exploration of glass. Wilkinson examined antique ceramics, lighthouse lenses, mirrored bottles, and reflected how light interacted with the object. These studies led Wilkinson to establish a textured, light-bending form with touches of inspiration from raspberries and quilted textures. Wilkinson's organic form is made from mouth-blown glass conformed to the surfaces of a 3D CAD rendered mold. When turned on, the pattern's contours receive a shimmering array of highlights that translate into an ambient glow. Striking in contrast, a honed and milled marble base lifts the refractive glass with a timeless veined surface.
