Drape Pendant Light by Karen Gilbert, Paul Pavlak from SkLO
The Drape Pendant Light from SkLO is an artful yet simple piece designed by Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak. The Drape series explores the relationship between light and glass, with this spherical pendant light showcasing the artisanal irregularities of handblown Czech glass. A fabric-wrapped cord drops a single shade into the air, presenting a smooth yet imperfect orb with a fire-polished mouth showing where the glass was broken off of the blowerโs pipe when shaped. Inspired by the skill and care of Czech glasswork, the designers created a piece that is modern yet true to tradition.
Developed in collaboration between Pavel Hanousek and husband and wife duo Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak, the glassblowing company SkLO was founded in the Czech Republic. SkLO, the Czech word for glass, draws inspiration from clean architectural lines and simple forms, Their unique pendants and chandeliers are crafted by glass masters in the Czech Republic and fuse the age-old tradition with modern functionality.
