The Equatore LED Pendant Light from FontanaArte is a modern reinterpretation of a classic, traditional design. Created by Gabriele e Oscar Buratti in 2017, this piece takes a unique, paradoxical approach to its silhouette. The dome-shaped shade contains no visible direct light source – rather, integrated LEDs rest within luminous discs placed inside a metal band along the perimeter of the shade. Each disc diffuses the light differently. The upper disc sends out an indirect, worldly glow that illuminates the shade, and the lower disc provides a bright, direct glow downward.
Founded in Milan, Italy, in 1932, FontanaArte originally produced artistic stained glass windows, and soon they started creating modern lighting, furniture and home accessories. With glass as their distinguishing feature, they feature the best of Italian craftsmanship, collaborating with many well-known designers like Pietro Chiesa, Gae Aulenti and Pierluigi Cerri.
