Designed by Jordi Vilardell & Maritxell Vidal, The Meridiano Outdoor Floor Lamp from Vibia casts an atmospheric light through a sculptural form that doubles as stylized, contemporary seating. Jordi Vilardell & Maritxell Vidal created the piece to appreciate the outdoor space through a magical and playful nighttime ambiance. Sharing a love for clean lines & shapes, the designerโs produce a volume of bent steel rods, mimicking the longitudinal circles of the meridian. A circular polyurethane foam cushion tops the volume for a low-profile seat that also accentuates the designโs 3-dimensional quality. LEDs on the backside of the cushion are a breakthrough in creative freedom for the design duo. Their slimness help achieve the trim form while satisfying lighting requirements. When turned on, the LEDs beam down an indirect ambient glow, creating a radiating design of cast light and shadows. The lighting effect conjures a sense of mystery that intrigues in the dark of the night.
