Nigel Coates is an architect and furniture and lighting designer. Approaching product design with artistry and acumen, Nigel Coates believes lighting and furniture are extensions of architecture. Challenging the meaning of architecture and the object, Coates brings a balance of art and intelligence to each design. His lighting collections showcase his passion for idiosyncratic, ironic and creative design while remaining classic pieces that consistently remain focal points in the home. Coates collaborates with many Italian companies including Slamp and Terzani. His work is held in museum collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the FRAC Centre in Orléans, France.
