Simon Pearce
Simon Pearce's passion for thoughtful, well-crafted artisan design began during his formative years on the coast of Ireland. Growing up in a family of artists and craftspeople, Simon followed suit, and at 16, began apprenticing at his father's pottery workshop. Instead of using formulaic industrial manufacturing processes, Pearce seeks to renew the art of traditional methods of glassblowing, where things are made to last by hand. Look no further than the humble yet elegant Cavendish Pendant with a blown glass shade that takes the form of traditional schoolhouse lights. Designed to last generations, Simon Pearce produces handcrafted glassware, tableware, and gifts intended for a lifetime of use. Each piece of Simon Pearce glass is hand-blown and finished by a skilled artisan in the Simon Pearce studio located on the scenic banks of the Ottauquechee River in Vermont. Naturally, the workshop sits in a 100-year-old mill that is hydro-powered by the river, serving to cut down on the cost of electricity while maintaining a sustainable and eco-friendly business. The workshop is also home to a new generation of designers and glassblowers, further Simon's vision of creating glass using a combination of timeless artisanship and contemporary design. TSimon Pearce is extraordinary design for everyday moments. |
