Stackable, portable and offered in nine finishes. Designed in 1933, the 4-leg Stool E60 is a fine example of Alvar Aalto's interest in basic functional, utilitarian forms. Today, the stool is part of the new Carry Away range consisting of a selection of Alvar Aalto and Artek Studio products, conveniently packed in flat packed boxes and ready for simple assembly. Also available is the anniversary edition of the E60 Stool that was released when the iconic stool turned 80 in 2013. Artek is marking this anniversary with the release of a range of Special Editions stools. The colors of these Anniversary Edition are taken directly from Aalto's Paimio Sanatorium: the yellow of the floors, the green of the walls, the turquoise of the handrails and walls, and the orange, white and black of the furniture. Paimio Sanatorium is considered to be the most important functionalist building by Alvar Aalto, whose talents graced the design world with both furniture design and architectural gems.
