The Tolomeo Reading Floor Lamp from Artemide features highly-polished anodized aluminum articulated arm structure that allows the user to place the light in the optimal spot for catching up on a good book. The stainless steel cables and internal tension springs help hold the structure in place so one will not have to constantly re-adjust the lamp into the proper location. It has a weighted steel base with a stamped aluminum cover for stability.

It is not strong the neck part
I loved the design very much... But I don't recommend it.
The neck part is easily broken, so I have sent emails to Artemide.
But they never answer how to fix it.

Excellent reading lamp!
I purchased this lamp for my employer. He is 90 years old and loves to sit in his library and read. His eyesight is poor, so he needs strong illumination on the pages. A year ago I bought this model as wall lamps for either side of his bed and he loved how easily they move and position over his reading - the articulation is great. So when it came time for a new floor lamp in his study, we bought another Tolomeo. The first one that arrived did not work, but Y-Lighting immediately replaced it. In the black finish it recedes and has a clean simple look. He is delighted that he can now read in his library as easily as in his bed.

Quality; sharp looks
I already own a silver Tolomeo reading lamp, so it was an easy decision to choose another one for a vacation home. The lamp is versatile, looks great with a range of styles, and feels solid. I chose the black, which looks wonderful against the silver base. The item came well packed in two boxes and was very easy to put together. I like how you can move the column and head around for task or mood lighting. It is a "working lamp"--probably won't be the conversation piece in the room but does its job simply and beautifully. Great design - bad fabrication.
We have had 2 of these lamps, both have broken at the base. When we lifted the lamp, we cradled the base so that should not have strained the pivot. The base metal appears pitted and cheap where it sheared.

Awesome, space-saving functional lamp!
I purchased the black lamp for my small studio, to use as a reading lamp over my small couch. It's very stylish (Black on aluminum), has a sturdy base, and is easy to move around, and swing away from the couch when I don't need. The lines (especially in black) make it take up very little visual space. I'm a big fan. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Beautiful and Functional
I enjoy reading and wanted a lamp that was bright and easy to adjust. The Tolomeo lamp is perfect. I paid a little extra for the black finish, and I love the way it blends in with my furniture. I had no trouble putting it together, and it was ready to use in a couple of minutes. This lamp will definitely be one of the pieces that I will bring with me when I'm ready to downsize to a smaller place.
