Universal Ceiling Fan Wall Control Ratings + Reviews

Universal Ceiling Fan Wall Control is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Compatible with Hand-held Remote Control Fans Thinking this was like the old Minke-Aire I was replacing, I bought a Hunter fan with hand-held remote and, hearing 99375 was 'compatible' with my new fan, I purchased it. I thought, like the old (i.e. late 1980's) fan, I would have the native fan receiver in the fan canopy with a "channel" setting that I could simply duplicate with on the wall transmitter so they could "talk" to each other. WRONG!! The 99375 will ONLY "TALK" TO THE TRANSMITTER THAT SHIPS WITH THE 99375!. There is no way to fit two transmitters in the fan canopy and probably no way to wire a second remote into the fan such that you can control the fan from either a hand-held or wall-mount remote. There is also the requirement that you use batteries to control fan speed and light dimming. The power switch control AC to the fan unit WITHOUT batteries, but somehow Hunter thought it was a good idea (e.g. THEY could save a buck) by not putting electronics in the wall unit to convert AC to DC for the fan speed and light dimming functions AS WELL AS eliminating the ability to "pair" multiple remote transmitters to a single fan-mounted receiver. Rather they decided to force users to take take apart the AC switch box in order to dismount the unit for battery replacement AND restrict users to EITHER wall mount OR hand-held remote control of their products. POOR DESIGN, CUSTOMER UNFREINDLY!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No need to pull the chain the universal control allows you easy acess to operate your ceiling fan it allows you to mount it anywhere and avoid searching for the hand held remote.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great remote control option & eliminates chains Terrific option. Much better than hand-held controls, especially with grandchildren around who pick up and walk away with things. For this fan, it gives 8 levels of brightness, as well as 3 (maybe 4?) speeds. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For google "easy" installation hunter 99375 So I have a hunter fan that already has a remote control, most people will say this product will not work. Well it does! Most ceiling fans are wired for pull chain operation. If you install a remote fan that leaves you with the remote only or switch being wired where the switch must be on for the remote to work. Solution this product. This switch installs just like a normal switch, now the part that they say can't be done. Pairing the wall switch to the receiver already built into the fan. Since there is pass through power to the fan you must turn the power off at the breaker panel turn back on and within 3 minutes hold the light and the fan buttons simultaneously until the fan beeps. And your done. Remote and wall controls should all be functional. YOUR WELCOME!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Information Your phone rep gave false info. Does not work with romulus remote control fan. Told me this is the right wall control. Had to pay an electrician to give me the bad news!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So many negative reviews because of batteries Personally, I don't mind the batteries. I've had a similar in-wall remote that requires batteries and I haven't needed to change them for over 8 years. Using the wireless communication capability is much more convenient that having to run 120v ROMEX wire from your switch box to the fan. Plus you can now use multiple remotes from different locations in the room to control the same fan. (The fan and light always have power, but the wireless controller determines how it will supply power to the unit.) One could argue that since this is in the wall, using the existing wiring to power the remote would be more convenient that batteries. But that would make the device a bit more bulky. So, yes using existing wiring to power the remote might be a bit more convenient than batteries, but IMO doesn't warrant all the 1 star reviews.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Batteries! Batteries make no sense for this thing...I'm just going to run another wire.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dissappointed it requires batteries. Anita, You tout the need for batteries as a feature. However what you decribed could be accomplished without batteries. I am a landlord as well. If my tenants don't know the remotes require batteries (which you present as a good thing) then they are going to call when the batteries eventually run out. I will have forgotten the details (years later as you point out) and have to troubleshoot the thing only to rediscover this dissappointing feature. Sorry but this is just another maintenance requirement that could have been eliminated by a rectifier and voltage regulator. All that said it is still a nice control, I just wish it operated from mains.
