The Ura 2 Pendant Light is an exploration of organic form designed by Arturo Alvarez to showcase the emotion created from the authentic hand-crafted design. Subtle imperfections combined with a 2-part volumetric form illustrate the natural personality and inspiration behind the design. To achieve its captivating form, craftsmen fold layers of steel mesh on the x-axis to achieve its tapering quality, and along the y-axis to achieve its pleated striations. Metal rings on either opening accentuate the volume of the shade. A glaze of paint is applied to the outer surface of the shade to create a textured interaction with outpouring light. The piece's radiance is warm, filling, and inspiring.
Started in 1994 as “a by arturo alvarez,” the company was rebranded as “a-emotional light” in 2020. Led by CEO Marco Rioseco and Sales Manager Miguel Martínez, a-emotional light produces products with one goal: to make people feel. Based in Galicia in Northwestern Spain, nature is found in each design by a-emotional light. Each product features a unique design and irregular shape inspired by the comforting and astonishing landscape of Galicia.
