The Aesthetic of Foscarini
The Foscarini brand values are reflected in the top-quality products they produce: freedom, project, passion, innovation, charisma, poetry and an Italian spirit. From the beginning of the creative process, designers are not limited by manufacturing constraints when inspiring their pieces. Through a commitment to freedom of ideas and by passionately pushing the limits, Foscarini lighting products bring beauty and stir emotion wherever they are found. A cultural history of mastery and quality craftsmanship has come down through the years and persists as part of their unique heritage.
Foscarini designs have won numerous awards and international acclaim. Their Havana Floor Lamp now resides at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) as part of the museum’s design collection. In 2001 their MITE and TITE lamps received the “decisive technological innovation” Compasso d’Oro design award for their use of novel materials. In 2014 the company was awarded the Compasso d’Oro ADI XXIII for their design publishing venture, “Inventario”. One of the first and few Italian companies in its sector, Foscarini also holds the environmental quality certifications UNI EN ISO 9001 and UNI EN ISO 14001: 2004.
To create light is the central vision of each Foscarini project, never losing sight of the connection between the form and the function of illumination. Continuous investment in research and development of lighting material science empowers Foscarini designers to go beyond and reach new horizons with each innovation. Top-quality manufacturing processes guarantee only the best possible products are crafted to create that light in homes worldwide.
Foscarini’s Top Collections
The Caboche Collection, designed by Patricia Urquiola and Eliana Gerotto, is a series of whimsical pieces that utilize polymethylmethacrylate globes arranged in concentric circles to amplify illumination. A blown glass diffuser provides diffuse and bidirectional light.
The Big Bang Collection is an exuberant and visually striking design innovation. Panels of methacrylate overlap to create intensely directed light and dynamic shadows in either red or white color options. The designers of the 2005 Big Bang collection are Enrico Franzolini and Vicente Garcia Jimenez.
The Aplomb Collection of concrete lighting fixtures is another leap in innovation by Foscarini. Their original use of visible concrete materials create an honest, raw, and modern aesthetic. Aplomb collection products include suspension lamps, outdoor pendant lights, and wall sconces.
The Twiggy Collection designed by Marc Sadler in 2006, is known for its slim and elegant shape. Inspired by the force of a counterweight on a long, thin pole, these dramatic light fixtures lend an airy feeling to living spaces and heighten sophistication.
